Loner: Another Solo RPG (2nd Edition)

I’m only just getting into solo and journaling RPG games because appeals to the writer in me. I’ve also been an avid gamer in regular table top role playing games (everything but dungeons and dragons because I prefer story based games).Anyway this book is awesome. It gives you the freedom to use any genre as a solo RPG game player. But if you have trouble coming up with ideas, genres, plots, settings, etc it has tables for that. It only needs 4 six sided dice- two of one color and two of a different color. That’s it. I’ve only just started one adventure but it’s obvious that it has a lot of replay ability. It can also be used for GMs and DMs of group rpg games because if you struggle to come up with settings, plots, or anything like that the tables can be applied to other games.The game mechanism is very simple. You ask “the oracle” yes/no questions (your character tries to pick a lock for example) and there are four possible outcomes… yes, you pick it no, don’t, or yes but (something not good), yes and (something good), no but (something good even though you fail) no your no and (you fail and something bad happens). You get to be creative as to what that is. Also there is a separate system for combat too but it’s likewise very simple.If you’re the type of role player that loves the story part of RPG games rather than endless leveling and loot collecting… you’ll like this. If there’s a setting you want to play but nobody you know wants to play… you can just play ut yourself. I really love this book. It’s great for creative players.

Fantastic for someone new & old to solo gaming. Simple system to create awesome adventures. Its a great book to create adventures using honesty any rule system.

I have used this book to create so many games.In the first week,I came up with a ton of creative ideas for game creation and story telling.It keeps you busy.

This game warns the player up front to play in a comfortable environment, not to overexert themselves, and to stop playing if they feel physically or emotionally uncomfortable. This game is not for me.

I took this while I was camping. It's a fun, compact system, thats perfect for killing time on your own.

This one is a nice little gem.You can use this rules not only for creating a solo rpg story with one character but also for generating campaign backgrounds for other settings. Which i did several times.The art in the book is great and xou can see that a lot of love and effort went in producing this rpgI can only recommend to try it out, especially regarding the low price
