The Complete Guide to Hunting, Butchering, and Cooking Wild Game, Volume 2: Small Game and Fowl

Fantastic book, great photography, easy to read and absorb the information. First heard Steven Rinella on the Joe Rogan podcast and heard him mention his books. Being from the UK I am limited to small game hunting but both books in the series have opened up my knowledge that I can hopefully put to good use one day.

This book and its first volume are 100% USA centered, BUT being in the UK you can 100% utilise alot of the content, if you're into meat/ shooting / hunting / tracking or generally just the outdoors this is for you.

Brilliant for everyone but amazing for Americans

Brilliant book, bought for my husband and he loves it.

Its not just for the serious "preppers" it also make a good reference read for the adventurous chefs. I would have given it a 5 star if it was not so USA focused.

I've been a small game/bird hunter most of my life so I was familiar with a lot of the concepts in the book. It covered the basics well and introduced some techniques for hunting in terrain that I've never exploited before. The style of writing is relaxed and very enjoyable and is complemented well with pictures. I thought the butchering descriptions could have used a bit more detail but were otherwise good. The descriptions of the type of game animals and recipes were my favorite part and I'm looking forward to putting them to use this fall. I would definitely recommend this to anyone just getting into hunting before the season opens or for a more seasoned hunter looking for a good read or maybe some new insight & ideas.

I've hunted for 50 plus years, but I'm always open to new ideas. Through experience, I've certainly learned my way is not always the best way. To find a source of information that can help me do something quicker, cleaner and more efficiently is welcomed with open arms. This book provided me with a couple of methods of butchering that were better than my old way. This book provides a wealth of information for those who are new to hunting and those who have not hunted for a long period of time. It covers a wide range of information from hunting gear, to shot placement on game, archery, game habitat, basic marksmanship, info on many different game species, recipes, and cleaning and butchering of the game. Though experienced hunters should know much of this info, there is still valuable insight that makes this book a worthwhile purchase, strictly my view. For those with little experience, this book is a jewel. If you have the bucks to purchase it, buy it. You'll be 100% happy you did. I cannot imagine that those looking for knowledge on this subject would be unhappy. Whatever you decision, I wish you warm campfires, good friends, laughter, and the wonders of the great outdoors.
