2 x Zyliss Smart Cafe One Cup Coffee Cafetiere Hot Mug Graphite & Red

Some people have reported differences in quality between the Smart version and standard version of the Zyliss Cafetiere Mug, with the latter leaking coffee granules into the top half of the mug. Reviewers of the Smart version have also reported this and on first use I have to say the same happened to me so I thought this was not as good a product as I first thought. Then on the second time of use I realised a little 'trick' that might solve most people's issues with this problem. When filling with hot/boiling water I set the filter at least halfway down the cup so that the rubber seal is fully engaged thus preventing coffee granules from getting into the upper half of the mug. I then carefully lift up the filter to allow the granules to percolate through the water before fully depressing and then drinking. This results in far fewer coffee granules ending up in the top half of the cup. Some coffee granules still end up in your drink but its not as much as before.

Oh yes, finally. I bought one of these nearly 10 years ago from TKM called a SmartCafe mug, it is a designer mug. The Zyliss mug still bears the name of the designer on the bottom. I was worried they may be inferior, but no, same quality. Like all filter you have to be careful with the coffee grinds are not too fine; we use Costa Coffee ground coffee and it is perfect. Holds approx 10fl.ozs or 295ml so if you like a really large drink these are not for you. Personally they hold just the right amount . Highly recommended

Liked it immensely. Sometimes carry it to the seafront in a Tupperware type box on floor of car. Still v hot when arrive there maybe 20 mins later. Usually coffee. But I’ve found good idea to put my cup of tea in there and keeps it warm while doing morning chores.

I saw somebody using one of these and thought I'd give them a try. Apart from the lesser satisfaction of drinking good coffee from plastic, the cafetière works well and keeps the coffee warm for quite a long time. Good if you're making one cup and taking it out with you or simply taking your time drinking it whilst writing Amazon reviews etc!

Oh happy days at work!!! These are amazing cups as i do not like instant coffee and now I have proper coffee from a proper coffee cup..... Just make sure you press the filter down very slowly and straight otherwise you will get hot coffee bubbling over onto your fingers while holding the handle. It also comes with a lid so as to keep it warm for longer with a peep hole to drink through. This is a cup I am aloud to have on my desk at work being that it has a cover for non spillage. Give it a try..

These mugs are okay but they allow much more coffee grains to come through to the top of the coffee which is not good at all. The Smart Cafe mugs never did this
