Really helpful product
Replacing sockets and switches in a room that has been wallpapered then painted or needs repainting, is not quite as easy as it sounds.Once you manage to remove the old socket or switch (razor blade)- it will likely tear the wallpaper around it.There also could be very little overlap of the wallpaper behind the socket or an edge caked with paint.Meaning when you fit your new switch or socket, there will be a square area around it that will be un painted with exposed edges of wallpaper or the lack of it or lumpy with old paint. This product solves that problem, it does not fit around the fixture, it is designed to be mounted underneath/behind it !Turn off the mains power first - before you do anything !You will have to unscrew the fixture from the wall to slip the plastic surround over it, at an angle. If this doesn't work, you will need to unwire it, slip on the surround, then re connect the switch or socket. For some folks this will require you to buy some longer screws to attach it back on to the wall with the slight added depth of the plastic - these screws cost peanuts on Amazon and in the UK they are usually M3.5 screws that range from 35mm to 75mm depending on your needs. The plastic these are made of may look scratched at first - it's not - just peel off the protective covers on both sides.Mounting these to the wall behind the fixture and making sure they are centred around the socket can be a bit tricky (so that the area around the edges is equal) - that's nothing to do with the product - it's just the nature of doing some DIY properly. The most important part of fitting these is in making sure the wall is flat underneath them, they wont sit flush to the wall if there's bumps or lumpy paint under them. These might seem a bit expensive for what they are but they are very well machined with no rough edges at all.Recommended

As described
I bought this to cover the gaps left by our plasterer around a switch. I had to turn the cover diagonally in order to get it around said switch and fits quite snug. Looks good however the white colour is really bright against the switch making it look dull.

Basically does the job
The finish is rough. It is a cut out from sheet plastic so it doesn't have smooth edges or a notch to fit in.

Exactly as required
Turned up ahead of estimated date - simple to fit and looks good. Have ordered a couple of different colours so the wife can decide which she likes best!

Good Finger plate
Used this to get some extra clearance on a PIR Light switch in a 16 mm box. Would have been better if it had been a couple of mm thicker. It is a just a plane 3mm plate with a square hole cut in it. Better, in my opinion than the plates with a recess in them
