ALEXANDER THE GREAT (July 356-June 323 B.C.) Alexander was King of Macedonia and most of the known world from 336-323 B.C. He was the greatest military strategist in the ancient world. A great accomplishment since he died at the age of 33. Alexander was also well educated, having Aristotle as one of his teachers. This is a fine example of the period of later fine art (336-280 B.C.) and is a particularly famous coin and appears over a great period of time. This coin was not only struck during the time of Alexander, but also by many of his successors.
