I can never have enough of this stuff
I have a cat that likes to chew cables. Over the years, he has killed many phone, laptop, and electrical cables... unless they're wrapped in this cable protector. I have been using this product for years. I can never have enough of it in my house. Any time I get a new appliance or electrical cord that is going to spend a significant amount of time out in the open - especially if it's in a non-standard, difficult-to-replace format - it gets wrapped in CritterCord. I probably own around 50+ feet worth of the stuff by now. When you first open the box, you'll notice it has a strong smell. This becomes imperceptible after a few hours of use, so don't worry, but the protective quality remains. The protector itself can be cut with a standard pair of scissors - it's not trivially easy, but it's doable, so you don't need special tools to size it correctly for your cable. It's a slight pain to put it on the cable itself in that it takes a few minutes of work, but this means that once the cable is protected it isn't going to slip off by accident. Lastly, the protector itself is completely reuseable. If you have a cable you've protected for a few years that you're retiring for some reason other than chewing, you can take the protector off and apply it to some other cord with no real loss of functionality. The only real drawback is that it makes some cords slightly less portable. If you have a laptop that you travel with and you protect the cord, it's going to take up a little bit more space in your bag. In general this is far preferrable to having to replace the cord, so I consider the trade worthwhile. Well worth the money. If you have a problem with pets that like chewing cables, this will likely solve the issue.

Rabbit hates the smell - didnโt stay in shape; had to use cello tape to secure it
Meh, I like this, because I put it under my rabbitโs nose and he ran away, so thatโs good, but when you cut the cord, it goes out of shape and it wonโt stay around the wire. I had to use cello tape in the end, which, for the amount of money it costs, I would expect more. Disappointing, but does the job.

Well it worked for my bunnies
It seems to have discouraged my rabbits from chewing the electric cables. The larger one does gape a little in places, but I just seal it with clear gaffer tape. I had been using Ikea cable protector, but critter cord makes it easier to protect right to the end of the cable as itโs a snug fit, and they like it, do the equivalent of pulling a face, and hop off to chew something else (like my sofa, skirting boards or shoes!)

Worked so far
I must admit I was a bit peeved when this first came and I realised it was just a bit of clear tubing with a cut all the way down. Hence the 4 stars. But it seams to work. As for the smell. While it does smell, it does not stink the whole house out as some reviews claim. It is a bit strong but to be honest I don't mind the smell, just smell lemony.

Cables are no longer being chewed through
There was a quite strong lemon scent initially but I believe that also helps to keep the rabbits away. The scent has faded enough for me to know longer notice and the bunnies no longer chew the wires. Easy to apply.

good idea but...
It didnt work! not only is the length insufficient to cover one standard laptop cable, when i gave up and took it off my two cats thought it was a great new chew toy (and showed far more interest in it than the actual cable!.) Another bad thing about it was the smell, i knew it would be strong but i read citrus and assumed it would smell of lemons or something, it doesnt, it smells awful and not citrusy at all and has spread around my whole house.. doesnt bother the cats though! waste of money its going in the bin

Perfect to deter kittens
Recently got a young kitten and installed the cords around the flat the week before we picked up the kitten. Ocassionally we noticed the smell of the cords, however it wasn't as overpowering as some of the reviews suggest and the citrus smell itself was actually quite nice. Additionally, the Critter cord has been useful in organising our cables! Since we have gotten the kitten, the smell alone seems to have deterred her from chewing or going to near the cables, so it has definitely done the mjob it was intended for!

So far so good
Our puppy is very chewy and goes straight for our wires, so protecting them and discouraging him is an absolute must. I have bought a number of cable management boxes to contain the cables which means that most of them are out of his way completely. I've used the 'critter cord' for the parts of the cables that cannot be boxed up and so far it seems to have deflected him away from the cables. I do not find the smell a problem and, as far as humans are concerned at least, I think it wears off very quickly. I have only had it for about a week so I'm not sure whether it will continue to work, but I suspect that for most dogs, once they smell an object and don't like it, they'll probably remember and keep away in the future. The cord is easy to cut so you just cut the length that you need with a pair of reasonably strong scissors and squeeze the cable into it. Most dogs could certainly chew through it if they had a mind to, so it will only work if they choose not to because of the smell and taste.
