Q: What is the actual power requirement? i want to use the usb end on my ipad without additional power input.

The U2MIDI Pro is designed for working with most of computers and mobile devices including iPad, it's power consumption is very low (only 75mW), you can use it with your iPad (via linghting to USB adapter or USB-C directly) and get power from it without any problem.

Q: Why does it not advertise the name of the device it's hooked into? wouldn't a normal midi cable do that?

Do you mean if you connect to a keyboard, you want to see the keyboard name as the USB device name on your computer? No USB MIDI cable or interface can do that. There are several reasons, but it is just impossible. Sorry.

Q: The port on my keytars broke. Can I use this to power my keytar? It has the midi in and out ports.

If the USB port on your keytars broke, U2MIDI Pro will not help. You cannot use MIDI Port to power the keytars, it is only for MIDI transmission. Sorry.

Q: The product claims to transmit SysEx data, has anyone tried patch dumps from synth to computer with this cable? I’ve heard some of these won’t work.

Recently we update the firmware to support unlimited sysex transmission, it will work for patch dumps too. Please install our free UxMIDI Tools software to update the firmware and set routing or filtering too.
