Also known as "Bohemian glass", Czech Crystal is from the Czech Republic, which has for centuries been famous for its glass and crystalware. It was first made when Bohemian glass-workers discovered potash combined with chalk created a clear colourless glass that was more stable than glass from Italy. It was in the 16th century that the term "Bohemian Crystal" was first used to distinguish it from glass coming from other parts of the world. Although the finish is quite similar to that used in Swarovski’s famous crystals, Czech Crystals are a much more affordable alternative.
