This is a non toxic, chemical free, reef safe sunscreen that contains zinc oxide as the active ingredient. For an even application you need to rub the cream in your hands to warm it up first. It will leave a white residue on your skin for about an hour until it sinks in. Therefore I use a different cream on my face, one with mixed minerals. But for my body, this is the best cream I have ever used.

Overview: This sunscreen is great in nearly all areas, but unfortunately falls short in one critical aspect for me, which is why I can't personally use it. As far as ingredients go, this sunscreen is excellent. It's a mineral only sunscreen and has no denatured alcohol, and the zinc particles are non-nano for those who don't like micronised zinc. I was extremely impressed that on my skin (Fitzpatrick Type 3), I don't get any white cast, and it only took me about 15 seconds to fully rub the cream in. However, I find the cream to be a bit sticky/greasy/shiny, which I personally don't mind as I have dry skin but might bother others. The one aspect that this sunscreen falls short in, is the fact that it has fragrance. It's fragranced with grapefruit oil, and has a light grapefruit scent, but unfortunately this irritates my sensitive eczema prone skin, so I can't use the product. However, even though I can't use it myself I've still given it 4 stars as that's a personal issue. The sunscreen itself definitely works, doesn't leave a white cast (for me, but deeper skin tones might get a white cast) and is very affordable, especially for mineral sunscreen. Summary: If you don't have sensitive skin/skin that reacts to fragrance, then buy this. If you do react to fragrance/essential oils then probably avoid it.

I have searched great lengths for a reef safe sunscreen and I think this is a great option. I have recently used this sunscreen on my Italy trip and have not burnt at all. I find a little goes a long way which is good as it is an expensive product. Yes, this will absolutely give you a white cast as it is physical sunscreen, however I used this sunscreen on the beach every day, boat trips, snorkelling etc and tbh I didn't really care if it left me with a white cast as my main priority was protection from sun and that the sunscreen was reef safe. Would I use this as an every day sunscreen? No. But for a water activities, I think its brilliant and I will be re-purchasing for my next trips.

Spent hours researching reef safe sunscreen, and all reviews stated this offered safe protection, good cover, and not too much white cast. Chuffing expensive at nearly £22 but I couldn’t bear the thought of poisoning the beautiful creatures we were snorkelling with so took the hit. This stuff is awful. Does not rub in so therefore doesn’t give good enough cover. Leaves thick, white casts which do not rub in. Also feels horribly greasy. And, after exhausting ourselves with the struggle to reapply it every 1-2hrs, we got severely burnt all, even the areas that were very well rubbed in. Dangerous, unsafe for use, horrid to apply. Very upset about the increased risk of skin cancer with burns as we are always so careful and have not burnt for years (using Tesco Soleil at £2.50 a bottle). I sincerely hope it at least protected the sea creatures as we persevered, but to our personal detriment. (And I do now wonder if even that was effective…). And all at a very hefty price tag. Poor.

I burn really easily and was very impressed with this cream. It’s very thick but works really well even when swimming. No unpleasant smell or marks. I used one tube in 1 week. Will definitely be using it again

I checked the ingredients on many suncreams that claim to be reef-safe or marine-friendly. Many are not not but I believe this one is (blue tube spf 50 thinksport). I used this walking around Thailand in 38 degree heat. I applied it in the morning, I stayed in the shade at lunch time, and I reapplied it again. It worked (I have very pale skin and I did not burn). :-) I went on a snorkelling trip. I hid in the shade of the boat except for the 1 hour long session in the water. I applied it liberally 20 min before entering the water at 9am. Unfortunately the back of my legs burnt quite badly where my yoga pants did not cover the back of my calves and ankles (and it was still only mid morning). So I do not think it works well in water. I suspect none of the genuinely marine friendly ones do.

the cream is a bit heavy on the skin and body hair (for men), however does a great protection job and is easy to apply. It protected us very well from the sun in our recent holiday, and the big size is also ensuring you have just enough for the trip. is also very water resistant. Most importantly is free from dangerous chemicals!

I was really excited to get this product as I'd been looking for a good mineral sunscreen for hours but, even though it had a nice (but thick) texture and good coverage, I wasnt happy because it gave me a really intense pink/white cast. It was really bad, I wouldn't mind if it was a little but my naturally pale but warn tones skin look ill and sickly with this on and completely unnatural. On a more positive note it didn't sting my eyes or skin and did sit well on the skin. But if you are not very pale and have pink undertones I wouldn't recommend this to you. For reference, the pictures with my hair up are with the sunscreen whereas the one with my hair down is my natural skin tone.

If you want your skin protected, get this sunscreen. 1. Its actually reef safe - lots of sunscreens claim this but still ingredients that aren't (avobenzone and octocrylene). this one is approved by Hawaii which means it's actually reef safe. 2. This is the best sunscreen I've ever used in terms of protection power. I tan very easily and usually after a day in the sun I'm very dark. I've now been in the sun for 2 full days and my mom commented I don't look very tanned even after swimming throughout the day (I do reapply once during the day, so if you want to tan quickly then don't reapply). 3. It appears very white but once you rub it in and it absorbs it just looks like your skin is "brightens" and no weird white streaks after you swim. 4. Its very spreadable for a mineral sunscreen. 5. No weird scents. 6. Hasn't given me pimples anywhere which means it doesn't block my pores. Can't say enough good things about it. If you are big on skin protection rather than looking excessively tanned this is for you. I know this will now be my go to for all sun destinations. Finally my search is over!
