Works well, generous size, beautiful blue when boiling
I love this kettle! Holds a good amount of water, boils quickly, lights up a beautiful bright blue colour. So far, despite living in a hard water area, there is no residue in the lovely glass. Can easily see how much water is in the kettle.

Quality.
After the false economy experience of buying an, albeit nice enough looking, but poor quality glass kettle which lasted all of 4wks, I forked out a bit more for this Russell Hobbs one. I'd never really thought about the differences in these work horses of the kitchen before, but they exist and it matters - it must be my age! This kettle is great. Quiet, easy to lift and hold even when full, the handle is comfortable for my old hands to hold, it looks really good. The quality is obvious. We're going to get along very well I just know it, and I'm off to make a cup of tea.

Great looking kettle… however…
I recently purchased the Russell Hobbs Illuminating Glass Kettle and I must say, it has been an overall positive addition to my kitchen. The sleek design with the illuminating feature is not only visually appealing but also practical, making boiling water a more engaging process. The glass construction adds a modern touch and allows me to see the water level easily. The kettle's performance in terms of boiling speed is impressive, and I appreciate the convenience of the easy-pour spout. The blue illumination while boiling is a nice touch that adds a bit of flair to the kitchen ambiance. However, I must address a disappointment that I encountered. The issue of leaking from the bottom when pouring into a cup is something that caught me off guard. It's unfortunate that such a flaw exists, as it does detract from the otherwise positive experience. I've had to be cautious when pouring to avoid any spillage, which is not ideal. Despite this setback, I still find the Russell Hobbs Glass Kettle to be a solid choice with its aesthetic appeal, fast boiling, and illuminating feature. If the leaking issue were resolved, it would be a perfect addition to any kitchen. I hope the brand takes note of this concern and addresses it for future customers.

Works well, seeing water level helps save energy
I don't find the condensation a problem, and since I use distilled (not just filtered) water, the inside stays permanently mirror-like and scale free, so I'm pleased with the appearance - the water did seem to get a little cloudy on the very first use, but that's resolved now and it stays crystal clear. (I've removed the scale filter since we don't need it, although maybe that's affecting the pouring and the auto-off?) The "ring of blue lights" are a bit of a fake really - there are actually only two, either side of the handle, with a plastic diffuser to give the appearance of a ring of lights, so it's not all that bright and certainly doesn't light up the water spectacularly unless you're in complete darkness. But it's very effective in showing whether the kettle's on or off, and much better than our old one with a difficult-to-see white light over the on-off switch. I don't find the kettle noticeably noisier than others I've used, and as it boils very quickly it's not a problem to me. The auto-off does take a little while to kick in, especially if you're only boiling a single cup, but because it's so quick you'd typically be alongside it anyway so can just flip it off manually or lift the kettle, saving a tiny bit more energy as well! The biggest benefit is being able to see clearly exactly how much water is in the kettle , so you can boil only just enough for e.g. one mug or a small teapot and use the least amount of electricity possible (and of course avoids accidentally turning it when empty!) There is a marker for 1 cup, but it's not particularly prominent, so we've drawn lines for 1 cup (c250ml), 2-cup teapot (c500ml) etc. in black magic marker - not pretty, but much easier to see! In fact it's easiest to turn the kettle round so the marks are at the back, so you can see the water level against them though the glass as you fill the kettle (from our water distiller jug) through the open lid. All in all I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it, especially so if you use a water distiller for drinking water.

So Good We Purchased It Again
This is our second one, with the first lasting around 8 years. So pretty good value for money. The only reason why we got a new one as well was because the lid wasn't fully latching anymore. Still has the same rather short cable for plugging into the wall. For standard height sockets this means around 1ft away from the wall for the base. The base works really good, very easy to remove the kettle and it finds it's home without any effort when placing it back on. Pouring water is very easy too, no drips down the front and can be accurately targeted in the pour. The weight is a little heavier than you'd expect but given it's mostly glass it's not too bad. The glass does allow you to easily see the water level and the blue LEDs provide a nice glow to show it's heating up. Handle is smooth and easy to hold, even for elders with limited grip. Super easy to clean down, and flat bottom makes for easy limescale removal. Overall, a fantastic simple kettle, one that we'll probably buy a 3rd one after this dies too.

Speed Test: One-Cup Boil Video & Review
**Review After 18 Months of Use** I bought this kettle after my previous one (a different brand) eventually ran out of steam. My choice for this replacement was based on good reviews, fast boiling, a well-known brand name, and the attractive, illuminated glass design. When I first tried it out in my kitchen, I was slightly disappointed by the short length of the power cable; about 16”/40 cm. I soon realised that the rest of the cable was actually wound underneath the base unit. This is a helpful feature if you want the kettle to be close to the power socket, keeping the cable tidy. In my case, I wanted it further away, so I unwound it to its full length; about 28”/71 cm. The blue lights illuminate while the kettle is switched on, so they are both practical and aesthetically pleasing, especially in the evening when the kitchen is less brightly lit. While it boils, it’s quite nice to watch. -Note: The blue lights do not flicker at all in real life as they may appear to do in the video above. This effect is just caused by the camera’s frame rate. To test its fast boiling claim, I filled the cold kettle with tap water just up to the green symbol marking the “one cup” level, which is definitely adequate for a single brew, and switched it on (see video above). I timed it at about 37–38 seconds from switching on to boiling/clicking itself off. This is just enough time to grab a mug and prepare your tea or coffee. All good so far. -Pros: • Well-known, trusted brand. • Good build quality. • Blue lighting to clearly indicate when it’s switched on, while creating an attractive effect. • Mesh filter at the spout. • Auto boil-dry safety cut-out (EDIT: This has happened once since I first wrote this review, and it worked) • Clearly visible water level • Easy to place, remove, and rotate on the base unit. • Lid opens conveniently with the press of a button at thumb position. • Large water capacity • 3 kW fast boiling • No leakage -Cons: • Relatively expensive compared to other makes and models. • Slightly noisy. • Does not incorporate a Brita filter. • May be on the heavy side for some people. Overall, this is a very good kettle, and I have not had any problems with it over the past 18 months of daily use. I personally consider the noise level to be acceptable, and although it is not cheap, I believe price-wise you get what you pay for, so I am happy to give it a full five stars. I hope this review was helpful.

Its okay so far.
Works fine but the water tastes burnt if you boil it more than once, even if you've left it to cool for a while. Does look good and lights up nice.
