Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pen, Black, 1.0mm Stub nib
NOTE : I purchased another 2 of these Pilot Metro CM nib fountain pens.I purchased another 2 because I could not locate any other way to purchase more Pilot CM nibs.I will be able to use the 2 pens by removing the paint leaving the brass exposed to gain a patina. This makes brass based fountain pens available to gain patinas.I ordered this Pilot Metro fountain pen because I did not have a CM nib fountain pen.I already own many Pilot Metro and all of the Pilot Cocoon fountain pens and so I know I would be getting a quality fountain pen with a expressive nib. This CM nib writes just grand.I am pleased with this purchase.

Perfect for me
And amazing price for a classy pen. If it's your first fountain pen, you may want to look up some videos on the quirks they have. Pick one up and you won't regret it!

Good choice at this price point
I do love fountain, pens, and I particularly love a fountain pen with a slight italic nib. Having played around with calligraphy back in the day, I find the italic style nibs helpful to me. The Pilot Metropolitan has a hint of that sort of nib, and I can write with ease with this nice, moderately priced fountain pen.It comes in various colors, and looks very good on my desk. Somehow, though, if it has the cap on the barrel, it makes it too heavy in my hand. Perhaps that’s supposed to be that way, but that extra weight means I have to leave the cap on the desk, where I can easily lose it. Perhaps the size is not right for me, but that makes this pen less easy for me to use. Others with larger hands, may have a different experience. (At a lower price point, though, I have enjoyed Pilot’s Plumix pens, which have distinctly italic nibs and a tiny cap that you can keep on the barrel while you write.)The Metropolitan is durable unless you drop it on the floor directly on the tip, which I have done. I recommend not doing that. But for an attractive, moderately priced fountain pen, this one is worth considering.

This is a great pen at a great price
I have quite a few fountain pens, and while this isn't my dear departed Mont Blanc, it is a lovely writer at a great price. The 1.0mm stub nib gives very nice line variation and the ink flow is smooth and even. Don't hesitate.

Excellent Value!
An excellent fountain pen for the money. If you are just getting familiar with fountain pens or are a frequent fountain pen user, I would recommend the metropolitan. Pilot makes some of the finest pens in the world from very affordable to very expensive pens costing in the thousands. The Pilot Metropolitan is an affordable as well as a dependable, go to, daily writer. My Metro has a 1.0 mm stub nib that enhances my writing by adding line variation. You can simply write as you would normally and see the line of ink vary from thin to slightly thicker as you write your words.

Not just a great entry level pen, but a great pen overall!
I have well over 100 fountain pens, most in the $80-90 range, a few $300+, and several in between. The Metro was my first re-entry pen after a lengthy hiatus. This is the 7th that I have bought in 3 years. Why? Well, the stub nib is just glorious. One of my absolute favorites. All of my Metros now have stubs. But wait, that's not all. It is a solid pen, with a lovely finish, that is comfortable, well-balanced, and not oversized. Even though it's metal, it's not heavy like some well-known inexpensive Chinese brands, so your hand won't tire during long writing sessions. And because I like to change ink often, the converter doesn't hold too much ink like some piston fillers. And one of my favorite aspects of this pen is the ease in cleaning. The nib/feed assembly easily twists/slides out and fits back in with no doubt about it's placement. Because Pilot's nibs are proprietary, they only seat one way on the feed, and are easily reinserted. The Metro is quite simply one of the best values on the market.

Fantastic, but read the description
I didn’t read that it was stub nib, so that was a bit of a surprise when I got it. The pen is fantastic. Writes smoothly and because of the stub nib’s thicker lines, my handwriting looks wonderful. The ink cartridge that comes with it works fine and doesn’t leak, although I did buy a piston converter to put in here, as I think the squeeze style leaks too much. I didn’t test it with this pen, so I can’t say whether this one will leak, it’s just my experience with other squeeze converters.

Fourth Pilot Mertopolitan
I recently became interested in fountain pens and have "invested" in numerous pens since January 2020. I have bought a wide variety of pen brands and prices ranging from $3.00 to $160 per instrument. Most have been good pens, a couple have been bad, and then there are the great writers, of which, there are quite a few. The Pilot Metropolitan and MR Retro Pop line are some of the best I own. The black 1.0mm Stub nib is the newest addition to my collection and I absolutely love it. I have the Red, Turquoise, and Green (Retro line) in a variety of nib points, all of which are equally fantastic. They feel great in the hand, I can write for a very long time with no hand fatigue, they are juicy writers and exceptionally smooth on the paper. I cannot recommend these fountain pens highly enough!
