A pretty good glass cutter
UPDATED REVIEW: I have now had this glass cutter for 11 months, and I dropped my rating down from a 5 to a 3. In the past I had never kept oil in any of my glass cutters, because most of them leaked. I added oil to this one, because of all the great reviews I read about this cutter. Well, today I went to use this cutter...which has been my new favorite for almost a year now, and it fell apart in my hand. All I did was grab it and try to put some pressure down on the tip. The middle section (called the adjustable saddle) actually broke apart, as did a piece of the top of the oil reservoir where the oil cap screws on. See additional pictures I just added for more information. Don't get me wrong, I still highly recommend this cutter, I just DO NOT recommend that you add any oil to the oil reservoir. Keep some in a little cup and dip it in it. Contacted manufacturer on 3-28-17 and they got back to me right away. Toyo is replacing this cutter at no cost to me. Fantastic customer service! One of my favorite glass cutters! I love how easy this is to use. It sits so easily in my hand and is very easy to cut glass with. Cuts like butter! Definitely recommend this cutter to anyone, especially anyone who has a hard time holding bigger cutters, because of carpal tunnel issues or pain in your fingers from arthritis. I had carpel tunnel release on both hands back in 2005 but I still have pain & numbness in my hand & fingers...which causes me to not be able to hold the bigger cutters well, or hold the other cutters in my hand in other ways. This cutter works wonders for the pain I experience in my hand. So glad I checked it out. Love mine!

Amazing cutter
This is a good glass cutter, as it makes it extremely easy to get the correct, consistent pressure required to cut various glasses. Now, it's not too hard to use a standard pencil grip cutter, but this relieves all strain from your fingers, and allows you to focus on getting good angles instead of trying to keep constant pressure while fighting fatigue. I can cut around 4 times as fast, because it is so much easier, and there is a lot more control. It's possible to guide this with a finger on your other hand, or just with a slight wrist motion --- which can't really be done well with other cutters, at least I've always had to move my whole body or arm to get good cuts. For smaller cuts/angles, the brass piece can be turned some 45 degrees to help guide the cutter, which is nice for doing things like circles. There is one small problem, and that is the grip positioning for the thumb/forefinger webbing. It's just not quite the right spot for me, and I find that it is either too close to the cutter, and my knuckles will be against the pivot, or it will be too far away, where I can not quite reach the textured metal grip near the tip. It's important to reach the tip, and keep it steady because it will rotate as you cut (also, you can rotate it to get a better cut). It really would have been much better if the brass/textured grip went up all the way to the black grip. I don't feel that we need a clear reservoir, and I would happily give that up for a better textured/weighted surface. Also, of every random color, I received pink. I knew that I would receive pink when ordering it, because that's just how these things turn out... so having brass to the handle would solve that problem also.

... so sore (from THE OTHER regular-type cutter) I WAS AMAZED with the first couple cuts with the SUPERCUTTER
My fingertips were so sore (from THE OTHER regular-type cutter) I WAS AMAZED with the first couple cuts with the SUPERCUTTER. WHY HAD I NOT GOTTEN THIS BEFORE???? was my only question. That "little perpendicular grip" IS THE KEY. The design allows for some adjustments lengthwise - giving you A PERFECT FIT - "customized" for YOUR HAND. The tip SWIVELS, the well holds LUBRICANT, the grip provides LEVERAGE....SO COMFORTABLE IN YOUR HAND - CUTTING IS " A ZIP" (and FUN again).

The grip is no good
I've been cutting glass for 50 years. I took a hiatus for a few decades but cutting glass is like riding a bicycle, you never forget how. I have a project using a gorgeous Youghiogheny glass that has a tough as nails skin. I dug out my old Fletcher glass cutter and as it was not carbide tipped it did not do well. I ordered up one of these "new style" Toyo oil filled cutters with what looked to be a sea-change improvement to the grip. Extreme disappointment. I read about the complaints regarding oil leaks but that did not matter 'cause I'm old school using a small sponge with 50/50 three in one oil and kerosene. The problem is the grip. The 90 degree handle is at sub-optimum location. I'm not a big fan of the "swiveling head" feature on the new cutters. It seems to go where it wants to go and not where you want it to go. The "handle" is mounted so high up on the cutter that one cannot reach the head with an index finger which is exactly where you want it. I suppose there are situations where this works o.k. but the old style Fletcher cutters are perfect. They've been using the same design for time immemorial and it works... I bought a 9 buck Fletcher carbide tip from Amazon and the Japanese cutter will go in my un-used tool stash. 'nuff said.

Cuts well, Great stability.
I really like this cutter! It cuts very well, but I like the way it fits in the hand, and the stability of it. Everyone’s different but for me, I think it’s great.
