The camera is covered. It is clear glass on the dynamic island.

Does this effect the screen colours?

Yes to a certain degree. the screen protector just makes your screen look out of focus almost and its feels like you can see individual pixels, but I haven't seen no major difference in the colours except the screen just being much darker on lower brightness levels.
