Great little collar!
**SEE END FOR UPDATE**When my wife and I got our rescue, we knew we were in for some hard days of training. She was almost a year old, but was believed to be an outdoors hunting dog as she knew "fetch" and "drop" commands, but did not know "sit" or how to walk on a leash. Needless to say, when we got her, "heel" was not a part of her vocabulary, and a regular collar just wasn't having the effect we wanted. We decided to give this collar a try.DESIGN/FUNCTIONSo far we have been very impressed with the way this collar works. The adjustable strap makes it able to fit several different sizes, something that was important for us, as though our dog is only 21lbs, she is built like a dog closer to the 30lbs range. The collar fits very well with little adjustment, and the "choking" action is very smooth both in locking down, and in releasing tension.BUILD/QUALITYThe collar seems to be very well made. Not having a back yard, we walk our pup 4-5 times a day, and the collar has held up very well! The reflective qualities are very handy! Not much else to say about it, but we have had no problems so far, so I am very pleased!WHY 5 STARS?- Price is extremely competitive, and is shipped with amazon prime!- Excellent quality, has held up to 4+ daily walks!- Works very nicely, no sticking like on some chokers.OVERALLOverall we are extremely pleased with this collar, and can highly recommend it!**EDIT 3/18/2012**We were told by a trainer some time ago, that these choker are effectively "useless" as they don't correct a dog that pulls, they just make it a little harder. Now while I did notive improvement in our dog's heeling on the leash with this collar, it was nothing compared to when we got our Herm Sprenger Prong Collar 14 inch Lightweight ! Our dog immediately stopped pulling as much and has been doing well ever since. While I am not taking any stars off of the product (as all of the pros still remain) I doubt this is the optimal collar for training a dog not to pull!

Great combination collar!
I LOVE this collar so much that I bought four of them. One of my beagles has an uncanny knack for getting out of both regular nylon collars and chains/chokers. Not possible with this one!The choker/chain part gives just enough that the collar can be worn comfortably loose, but if the dog starts throwing a fit it tightens up so she can't slip out.The plastic buckle for adjusting the length has lasted for several months now and my beagle can be a strong puller (if she sees a rabbit or squirrel then all training is moot!); on previous collars I have used the buckles have all started slipping - it no longer holds the collar at a given length so when the dog pulls the collar gets looser. I haven't noticed this at all with this collar and my beagle has been pulling away at it for months. The thickness of the collar is good for the dog's comfort but this also means that it does encourage pulling a bit. Although the design prevents the collar from tightening too much, I would not recommend leaving this on the dog permanently or while crated or unsupervised; it could still cut off the dog's breathing if it got caught on something. It is great for walks and training, though. The chain portion is also very good for immediate, close-in control of the dog. It provides an excellent grip and simultaneously tightens up around dog's neck when you grab it, as opposed to regular nylon collars which pull away from the dog if you grab them, potentially aiding the dog in escaping the collar. The reflective part is pretty tiny; I would not really consider it a reason for purchasing, but this collar is great in many other ways.I love the variety of colors available. I have a different color for each dog which helps me keep them from getting too tangled when we go on group walks as I can instantly identify which collar/leash goes to which dog.I also recommend the matching leash.

Loved this quick release collar
This is a great training collar. Very easy to use and comfortable to wear on my dog. She doesn’t try to get it off

Excellent comfort, functionality, and durability
I reviewed these RogZ utility collars (with the "Martingale" link) several years ago. I owned three prior to reordering. I still cannot say enough good things. Although my old ones have had tough lives, and show some of their age, they're still kicking. I have a 12 pound Italian Greyhound and a 35 pound Whippet who are both accomplished escape artists (as most sight hounds are). They ninja out of most collars at will. Not the RogZ gear, though. They have juuuuust enough cinch to them to make them ideal for sight hounds. They hang comfortably loose around their necks until the squirrel chase is on, then they cinch enough to control, but not submit your dogs by choke-out! The webbing is thick and durable. The stitching is of high quality as are all the buckles, rings and connecting links. The reflective stitching is a nice bonus and actually catches quite a bit of light at night, even on the old, well-worn collars.I have a frame of reference having ordered and used several other brands of this style of "half-check" collar (show collars with silly patterns and such) and there is an immediate recognition of the quality differences between the robust RogZ stuff and the stuff designed to insult your masculinity. My only complaint is the limited colors available for smaller breeds. When I ordered the first set of collars and leads a couple of years ago, I believe there were many more options. If you are looking for a comfortable (my dogs said so), functional, durable, very-well-made half check/Martingale style collar, avoid temptation to get the pirate skulls, flames, flowers and what have you. I firmly believe you will LOVE these as I do.

Cute
I like it for my dog to wear loose at home and it tightens up when we go for a walk but I do not use it as a choker.

Great collar, one my dog can't magically get out of!
I needed a half choke collar as my fox-terrier mix magically managed to come out of any collar or harness he wore...unless I tightened the collar too much, which I did not want to do. A half choke gives him enough space around the neck unless he decides to pull. The collar itself is quite sturdy. At first, I was afraid the loop would snap when my dog pulled hard, but it's still in good shape even after many walks. The reflective threads do reflect light, but if you want something to show in passages where there's no light to reflect, I'd suggest something else, not a reflective collar.

Perfect for my collie x
This is perfect for my rescue collie x who slipped her standard collar and legged it!I keep her standard collar on as she has a tracker & tag on it and this choke collar fits nicely next to it.

Reflective nylon choke collar
Very disappointed with this collar bought for my 14 week old puppy. Was not a medium rather a small thin collar.Chain felt very flimsy.I actually had to cut the collar to get it off my puppy. Not worth the money at all.

Not worth the price.
Great colour, bright orange, width of collar very narrow, definitely not worth the price.

Medium collar too thin
Bit too thin, would prefer a thicker collar. Love the colour, bright green. Bought the medium collar for my large cockerpoo cross as the large one (thicker) would just fall off him as his neck is only 15 inches. Would be good to have a choice of 2 sizes e.g. thick or thin collar
