Reliable, Fast, and Convenient
I’ve been using the Samsung T5 Portable SSD 1TB for several months now, and I have to say, it’s an excellent choice for anyone needing fast and reliable external storage. Whether I’m working with large files for video editing or just backing up important data, this SSD does the job without a hitch.Design & Build Quality:The T5 has a sleek, compact design that fits easily in my bag or pocket. It's lightweight and made from durable, metal material that feels sturdy but not too heavy. The build quality is top-notch, and I don’t worry about it getting scratched or damaged from everyday use. I’ve also dropped it a couple of times, and it still works perfectly—it's definitely built to last.Speed & Performance:The 540MB/s read/write speed is incredibly fast, especially when compared to traditional hard drives. I use it to transfer large video files and it handles the job without any slowdown. Transferring a 10GB file takes just a couple of minutes, which has really sped up my workflow.Compatibility & Ease of Use:I’ve used it with Windows and Mac, and it works seamlessly with both. It comes with both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables, which makes it compatible with a wide range of devices. Setting it up was super easy—just plug it in, and it works right away without any complicated software installation.Security:The AES 256-bit hardware encryption is a great feature if you’re concerned about data security. I use the password protection feature, and it works perfectly to keep my files safe.Battery Life:The T5 doesn't need an external power source, which makes it convenient for travel. It’s powered directly through the USB connection, so I don't need to worry about carrying extra cables or chargers. Conclusion:Overall, the Samsung T5 Portable SSD 1TB has been a fantastic addition to my tech gear. It’s fast, durable, and portable—everything I need in a reliable external storage drive. Whether you’re a professional or just need extra storage for everyday use, this SSD is a great choice. Highly recommended!

Quick, Secure, and Tiny (convenient)
Excellent external drive with large capacity and tiny form factor. I also love the security features that includes the requirement of a password to access. Keep in mind that (on Win11) once password is entered, the drive remains accessible on your PC even after waking it from sleep and singing back in to Windows. Only a complete shut down of the PC will restart the external drive so that it requires the password again.Speed is fast. May not be as fast as most new drives created after 2024 (this one was purchased about 2020).

Great for backing up my PC
This was the first external drive I bought for backing up my PCs. I label every backup by its PC name & date so if I ever need to restore a particular PC due to a failure of some kind, I don't need to figure out what caused the problem. I simply connect this drive to the failed PC and restore the PC from the last backup that I KNEW was working and I'm going again. If the PC is working again, then the drive saved me NO TRIP TO OR COST FOR A REPAIR GUY!!!!

Great External SSD for 2019 21.5" iMac
Bought this to use as an external SSD to speed up my slow-as-molasses lemon of an iMac that I fell for purchasing last year. (2019 21.5" iMac with HDD...I know, right?) I was ready to spend $350-500 to upgrade internal SSD and RAM to get the machine that I thought I bought in the first place. Once I did more research, I realized that I could get the speed and functionality I desired using an external SSD. This little guy did the trick! I chose the T5 over the T7 due to my iMac's data transfer limitations (up to USB 3.1) and honestly, it was partly because the T5 is a little cheaper. I also love how portable this SSD is for future travel or flexibility. To set up my OS on this SSD, I plugged the SSD into my iMac using the lightning cable provided. Then, I erased the disk with APFS format and GUID partition map scheme, restarted my computer in recovery mode and moved everything over using migration assistant. So easy! There were a few cautionary tales about the SSD not being recognized after installing the Samsung software on a Mac. I also experienced this and eventually made it work. A few things I will say about that:1) You do not NEED to install the software to use the SSD. You can just configure the drive using Disk Utility and use it as you normally would, but know that you won't have the password protection feature if you do this.2) When you install the Samsung software for the first time, have your Preferences>Security/Privacy open and be ready to select "Open Anyway" when the Samsung software pops up under the blocked applications. This will cause the drive to be undetected every single time. Then, restart your computer, unplug/replug your drive and voila! It should be viewable in your Samsung portable SSD application.
