Solid and well built can opener that works
I've been using this for a while now and it's genuinely impressed me. The build quality feels solid and heavy-duty, not the flimsy plastic feel you get from cheaper openers. The oversized turn knob is a real highlight. Its smooth and effortless with very little resistance, so you're not fighting the thing every time you open a can. It latches onto the rim securely on the first try, which is something I've struggled with on other openers, and once it's on it stays put through the whole cut. The handles are very comfortable to hold for extended use, with a soft grip that absorbs the pressure. Even if you're opening multiple cans in a row, it doesn't get uncomfortable. The stainless steel gives it a quality feel that makes it seem like it'll last years rather than months. Super simple to use, does exactly what it's supposed to do, and does it well! Highly recommend if you're looking for a reliable everyday can opener that feels like it was built to last.

Very Nice
I was wanting an electric can opener, but with all the problems I have had in the past with them, I decided to get this one instead, and boy am I glad I did. It works great! Holds up well and is durable, easy to use, and is the perfect size for my hands. I have carpal tunnel and I can use this without any pain at all. It doesn't slip off the can when I use it so the stability is perfect. The removal of the lid is good too as it flips the lid up so you can grab it.

High Quality, Heavy Duty & Rasor Sharp
I used many can openers before but this one is absolutely THE BEST can opener! The manufacturer uses high quality materials and smart design in this product and makes it at reasonable price. The Gorilla Grip opener is heavy-duty enabled, super solid and razor sharp. It's very easy for me to open cans made with thick metals. The other traditionally famous brands can't keep up with this kind of quality nowadays. As consumers we should support companies who dedicate in quality products and services. Highly recommended!

3 Months Later: Still Sharp, Rust-Free, and Perfect for Small Hands!
I purchased this Gorilla Grip can opener on sale for about $7 or $8, and even though it is back to normal price now, it is worth every penny. It arrived very quickly in its original packaging with absolutely no damage. I have been using it for over three months now, and it has been fantastic. Here is why I love it: No Hand Cramping: I cook with a lot of canned goods, so comfort is a must. This opener is incredibly manageable to hold and the perfect size for my smaller hands—not too big, not too small. Precise, Sharp Cut: The blade is super sharp and gives a very clean, precise cut every single time. Excellent Durability: After three months of consistent use, I haven’t had a single issue, and there are absolutely no signs of rust. Overall, I love Gorilla Grip products and am already looking into buying more household items from them. Well done, Gorilla Grip!

This is THE can opener you need!!
This is my second one of these openers in like 10 years and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone, but especially to older folk like myself that have issues with using manual can openers (or electric ones)! First off, it has an extremely sharp cutter head, and it stays sharp for a long time! The handles fit in your hands and do NOT require much strength or pressure to press together. Also, the turning handle that controls the blade mechanisms, is very comfortable and again, easy to use for even those of us that don't have much hand strength anymore. Overall, while I do have an electric can opener (Which I have grown to hate!), I find this one is simpler, easier and quicker to use by far!!

Sturdy, smooth, easy to use & durable
I've had this can opener for a year and 4 months and it still opens cans like "butta"!! Very smooth and easy to use, no struggling, and even though I don't have a problem with arthritis in my hands I would imagine it would be easy to use for those who do. I recommend never submerging it in water, just do a wipe off with a wet paper towel and dry it, or if really dirty you can wash but dry very well with towel and air dry. Very happy with this can opener!

Best manual can opener
This can opener is so easy to use. It’s heavy and sturdy. Cuts into cans with ease and it’s very safe. So happy with my purchase

Feels sturdy in the hand
This can opener didn’t get 5 stars because I haven’t used it yet. Appearance-wise, it has larger handles than the one that’s over 20 years old and hopefully that isn’t an issue with the carpal tunnel and arthritis. My handspan is much wider on this one to hold it. The blades look sharp and if I read right, they are stainless. My old ones are kind of rusty looking and I noticed that one getting duller. My problem with this one is that it’s made in China and would much prefer more American made products. I hope it holds up to the other reviews. I just might hold on to the old ones for awhile just in case. It’s been enough time passed that I can add to my original review. I have been able to use this can opener several times and now I can say that I am actually disappointed in it. I do like that it feels good in my hand, I like the thickness of the grip for my arthritic hand. However, on the cans I opened, I did notice that the gear mechanism “slipped” several times on each can lid. The opener did not come off the lid, it continued to grip the can, but the opener did not progress around the lid. That’s unacceptable to me when a product cannot do the job it was designed to do. I am glad I hung on to my old Swing-Away but I still need a new one after 22 years. In the process, I would change this to only a 2 or 3 star rating, at best. I will be purchasing the equivalent of my Swing-Away and will throw this one out as I don’t have the original cardboard it came on in order to return it.

The Gorilla Grip? More Like Banana Slip – The Epic Failure of the Gorilla Grip can opener
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ Gather 'round, dear friends, for I have a tale of woe and betrayal, a story so tragic it would make even the most hardened of hearts weep. It all began with the **Gorilla Grip Heavy Duty Handheld Manual Can Opener**, a device promising the brute strength of a gorilla and the precision of a Swiss watch. Little did I know, I was about to be bamboozled by this tin-can tormentor. **Day 1:** The Gorilla Grip entered my kitchen like a hero in a cape. It boasted a sturdy design and a grip so mighty, it could supposedly open cans with the mere flex of a finger. I believed I had found the Excalibur of can openers. **Day 2 to 4:** I was on a can-opening spree. Beans, soup, tomatoes—you name it, I opened it. The Gorilla Grip was performing like an Olympic champion, and I was beginning to think we might have a lifelong partnership. **Day 5:** The honeymoon phase ended abruptly. The once-powerful grip began to slip, like a gorilla trying to peel a banana with buttered fingers. It managed to open a can of peas but left jagged edges that could have been used as medieval torture devices. **Day 10:** The Gorilla Grip started showing signs of severe exhaustion. It whimpered at the sight of a can of chunky chicken soup. The handle, once firm and reliable, now wobbled like a newborn giraffe. My dreams of culinary efficiency were rapidly fading. **Month 2:** I should have taken it as a sign when the Gorilla Grip refused to open a can of pineapple. It groaned and strained, then made a sound reminiscent of a dying walrus. The handle snapped off entirely, transforming my mighty can opener into a pathetic, impotent piece of scrap metal. **Month 4:** In a desperate attempt to resurrect my fallen hero, I tried every trick in the book: oiling the gears, whispering sweet nothings, and even a small prayer to the kitchen gods. But the Gorilla Grip was beyond salvation. It had become a paperweight of epic disappointment, mocking me from its place in the drawer. In conclusion, the **Gorilla Grip Heavy Duty Handheld Manual Can Opener** is the Shakespearean tragedy of kitchen tools. It promised the strength of a thousand gorillas but delivered the fragility of a soap bubble. If you're looking for a can opener that will shatter your dreams and leave you with jagged edges—both literal and metaphorical—look no further. Otherwise, spare yourself the heartbreak and seek your can-opening solace elsewhere. Farewell, Gorilla Grip. You were the king of broken promises.

The ones we received may be defective but still work great, with a caviat.
Owned a pair of these before years ago, looked identical, and they were excellent. These ones came and I can use them fine but my mother struggled with them. Even I have to kind of push them in with the top of mine hand while pulling bottom handle slightly with my fingers the other direction. They cut clean and fast if do that as them seem loose or not adjusted properly or something. I actually love how they function for me but for if this is a common thing then I wouldn't buy them for anyone with arthritis or some other condition that makes this awkward. It doesn't really require strength, just a bit of dexterity. Othewise I'd actually buy them again.

Sharp, Safe, and Built to Last — A Kitchen Essential!
I was honestly impressed by how solid and sharp this mandoline feels right out of the box. The blades slice vegetables perfectly even — no crushing, no slipping, just clean cuts every time. The hand guard actually works and keeps my fingers safe (finally a design that makes sense!). It’s easy to adjust the thickness and even easier to clean — I just rinse it under warm water and it’s ready for the next round. It feels heavy-duty without being bulky, which is a huge plus for small kitchens. I’ve had this mandoline for a few months now and use it regularly. It still cuts just as smoothly as the first day, with no dulling or rusting. The quality truly holds up over time — durable, reliable, and clearly built to last. The Honest Chihuahua verdict: A long-term winner that proves good design and strength can go paw in paw. 🐾
