Martial arts genius Jet Li explodes onto the screen with an intensity not seen since Bruce Lee. "Kiss of the Dragon" is not merely a thriller but a shocker. (San Francisco Chronicle) China's top secret agent visits Paris on a pleasure trip only to encounter government espionage at the highest level. "Li's action sequences are like an oil fire, spilling from one room into the next and lighing up in the interiors with heat and wreakage"! (The New York Times)

A Sweet Story Plus Lots of Action
Jet Li does wonders in this 2001 martial arts action movie. Watching Kiss Of The Dragon for the first time in 2019 I find that I miss this genre of film starring the martial artist greats of cinema, including the masterful martial artist and actor Jet Li. The story is simple and endearing. The characters are not too complicated and sometimes it's just nice to turn off the brain and enjoy watching 90 minutes of fast-paced bone-crushing action interrupted briefly here and there by a little quite story-building. The film is also helped substantially by Bridget Fonda who sadly has not been a presence in films for quite some time, but nevertheless it is as always enjoyable to see her in the role she takes on. Turkish French actor Tcheky Karyo is always a plus in most any role he takes on. I really enjoyed this movie and recommend it.

One of Jet Li's best Western films because it comes with plenty of great choreographed fights
Kiss of the Dragon might be Jet Li’s top Western movie. That’s because the action comes fast and furious. It’s some of the best choreography he’d been given since expanding into international productions. The story focuses around Jet Li as Chinese agent Liu Siu-Jian who is set up by a corrupt French police detective Inspector Richard (Tcheky Karyo). Liu gets chased around Paris and eventually meets up with a prostitute named Jessica (Bridget Fonda) who is being exploited by Richard.Li gets to punch, kick and flip a bunch of Richard’s henchmen, while the inspector and his fellow officers get to discharge a large amount of ammunition. In the climax Li even gets to work his way through an entire police station.C

Jet Li pool ball smash
This is 1 of my favorite Jet Li movies . It is so crazy as in terms of how fast he moves along with the other martial artists that sparr with him it's crazy. Look up the movie on google under production notes and you will see what the hell I'm talking about. So well acted and choreographed!

Jet's best American Film
I thought to myself, finally...a great American release for Jet...I'm a huge fan of jet and own most of his HK stuff, but none of the American releases...Romeo was an okay movie, but he's done much better...The One was just plain stupid story-wise,check out my review to see why...but Kiss was sure a sweet one...brutal fighting scenes and great action...this is jets most violent movie considering the number of ways he killed his opponents...however, the girl (fonda) was really annoying and unecessary for the film...i just wanted her obnoxious sounding voice to go away, but i guess she was for story...story is pretty typical...jet is an undercover agent who gets involved with some bad drug lords...these baddies have a drug operation go wrong and try to frame jet's character for it...jet gets away with evidence of killings and is on the run...fonda is some hooker who ends up helping him out and she has a child that is held somewhat captive by the drug leader...anyways,you'll see jet kill like he's never killed before and some scenes will make you cringe, but i personally think its awesome...a must see and buy for any jet fan...by the way jet li's Fist of Legend is still the best martial arts movie in my opinion =), but check KofD out as well.

WOW, a martial arts movie without wire-works
I decided to see this movie when it came out expecting to see what I saw in the usual Jet Li movies, wire-works (some of you kung-fu movie watchers know what I am talking about, but if you don't, wire-works is when the actor or stunt man is suspended in air or swinging on a cable performing unusual fighting moves). Wire-works are cute, but I do not like them because they are slow and take me away from the action most of the time. This movie HAS NO WIRE WORKS in the action sequences. I was so happy, finally a martial arts movie for the new millennium not caught into the new-old trend to hit Hollywood. The martial arts scenes are fast, rough, brutal, and are simply what Bruce Lee fans want to see. There was a fight scene Jet Li had in a dojo that reminded me of Chinese Connection a.k.a. "Fist of Fury".The story was not bad; it was good for a martial arts action movie. Personally I would have made the movie a bit longer (like 10 or 20 minutes) to make sure people know exactly why things are going on. Its workable but would have been perfect with a little bit of information. The big one in the beginning such as the French investigator and the Chinese drug boss, the movie doesn't tell you their connection exactly but it's implied.Li is an overly devoted cop, so he doesn't have much to work with until he meets Fonda's character, there his character is not just doing the job but being a character. Fonda's character used to be addicted to drugs and is a forced-to-be prostitute. So her reactions were pretty not bad for Fonda's acting and I thought she did a good job for her given character. The score is done by Craig Armstrong (from Massive Attack), which is cool of techno/orchestra. Also there are some hip-hop songs thrown in two of the fight scenes. The one by Mystikal was bearable because of the drum beat (not a bass electronic beat) so it felt OK. Personally I don't like rap in fight scenes cause the talking (rapping) might take it away. I like rap in the background or to set a scene, not in a fight scene, unless it is instrumental.

BOO YA!
Ranking much higher than "The Enforcer", but not quite as high as "Lethal Weapon 4" or "Black Mask", Kiss of the Dragon is one of Jet Li's better films. Although I liked "Romeo Must Die" & "The One" RMD was missing in really great fighting scenes (although the few short fights were pretty good), and "The One" was pretty much the opposite, with plenty of great fighting, it was lacking in the storyline department.Kiss of the Dragon has almost enough plot, and almost enough good action... but not quite enough. It also might have been the fact that there were a bunch of Chinesse in France but everyone was speaking English... I think I heard half a dozen French words in the whole film... a little disappointing, and confussing (well, not confussing, it's a movie and they can get away with whatever they want).Overall it should have recived a 3.5, but I rounded up for good behavior.

Amazing
This is Luc Besson and Jet Li at their best, supported by the brilliant Bridget Fonda.A Chinese cop is draughted in by the Paris police, headed by Tchéky Karyo| to help bring down a Chinese heroine kingpin. He's betrayed and with the help of prostitute, Jessica, he goes about uncovering the bad guys while returning the favour to Jessica. This is not your average martial arts movie with some top fight scenes, which unlike many films of this genre, aren't fuelled by the protagonist's past, but actually seem to fit with the story. Li's story with Luc Besson's excellent screenplay is an adrenalin rush from beginning to end.Check out the extras on this too with some excellent input from the cast and crew - especially the snooker ball scene.

Magnifique!!
An excellent movie, great story, good acting and of course brill martial arts!Just love actor's who can deliver their martial arts naturally on screen, no doubles,no speeding up of the camera's. It's just how it should be.This is one of my favourite Jet LI movies to date. One of the best scenes in the movie was when Jet's character stumbles into the dojo by accident and is confronted by a class of martial arts experts. He has to fight his way out of trouble, reminded me of the scene in "Fist of Fury" when "Chen" beats up the Japanese guys! I recommend this movie highly!

Entertaining
I heard a lot of good talk about this film before I got to see it so I had high expectations as it began but after 15mins or so I was feeling the same as iv felt watching nearly all Jet Li's films - impressed with his skill but somehow bored watching him! I dont know if your a fan you'l prob disagree but I find his fights slightly entertaining at best! Not for me

A superb movie
This is a 'must see' movie for all Jet Li fans, and you will love Fonda's character as the heroine sorely abused and used(a lesson to all young women out there!) Jet Li is the quietly ultra-competent cop, who is seconded to Paris to supposedly help the police but who is being set up as the fall guy for the murder of a highly placed Chinese politician. The deliciously evil bad guy's problems start when Jet Li doesn't just allow himself to be killed!
