The 13-year-old Christiane F. lives together with her mother and sister in a dreary high-rise settlement in Berlin-Gropiusstadt. To at least temporarily escape family problems, she smokes hash and throws trips. But then she switches to hard drugs and takes heroin. She's getting addicted. In the morning she goes to school and in the afternoon on the children's stroke at the Zoo station to raise the money for her addiction. Christiane gets into the suction of drugs and prostitution. And instead of the supposed freedom, the fabric brings only decay and death, which does not spare even some of their closest friends. Bonus material: Audio commentary with director Uli Edel; interview with Natja Brunckhorst; casting insights
