Cannot compete with the same-size/priced JBL Control 1's
Using a 90 WPC Harman-Kardon intergrated amp, I A/B tested these Tannoy VMS-1's vs a pair of JBL Control 1's. A/B'd both in stereo and single speaker mono, theres no question: these Tannoys had muddy reproduction in the bass frequencies, compared to the similarly priced and sized JBL Control 1's. 2 stars because they worked. Personally, I doubt that the entity we know as "Tannoy" had anything to do with the design of these loudspeakers.
