“Great padlock for high-security needs
“I recently purchased ABUS 37/55MB50 KA Granit Alloy Steel Padlock Keyed Alike and I am very happy with my purchase. The lock is made from hardened alloy steel with a tensile resistance of 6 tons, which makes it very sturdy and durable. The ABUS Plus disc cylinder provides the highest protection against picking, which gives me peace of mind knowing that my belongings are secure. The shackle and body are made from hardened alloy steel with black Granit coating for extreme corrosion resistance, which makes it perfect for outdoor use. The disk cylinder is extremely drill resistant, which adds an extra layer of security. The lock comes with two keys, one with an LED light and anti-key duplication card, which is very convenient. Overall is a great padlock.

Serious lockage for your don't-want-them-stolenables
There is a reason you pay what you do for ABUS products, especially the disc detainer style such as this one. I used this originally as a box truck lock to my great satisfaction and now use it for a shipping container storage unit. It comes with two keys, one of which has a built in LED light...neat, but ultimately a little pointless... and a key code card for key re-order should that be necessary. The long shackle adds versatility and works well for box truck swing arm locking mechanisms where a shorter shackle cannot be rotated to effectively close. I feel the price is worth it and would buy again if needed. While this type of core CAN be picked by a pro, it will be a significant time investment likely steering them to an easier lock on someone else's stuff. The counter argument is that it says, hey, there's something to steal in here. Look kids, if a thief wants what you have and they are skilled enough, they will get it, you might at least make it as hard as possible if that's how it is gonna go down. JM2C tho

Perfect lock for Containers, yards, and just about anything else you don’t want stolen.
Can’t go wrong with ABUS. A great lock company. This lock hangs lower than you would expect with the longer shank. Super secure and beefy!

1yr review, still Tough as heck, stupid level of abuse and still works like butter, VERY happy!
The Abus Granit lock I bought is being used to chain up my heavy 16 foot tool trailer's frame to my truck frame, and it's been smashed numerous times between the truck hitch and the ashpalt and concrete roads when I hit a big bump or pothole. The outer casing has been mildly abraded away on the bottom and it's scratched up a lot and areas of the finish have been worn off, but despite the stupid level of abuse it gets, it still functions like butter after 5 months of hard use. As the photos show I did realize how I can keep the lock from getting under the hitch, by putting the shackle through one of the safety chains' upper portion. I do keep the lock regularly lubed with a dry lock lube (1yr switched to silicone works a little better) since this is within a foot of the road at all times, and have not seen any significant corrosion so far. VERY happy with this purchase. Locksmith I talked to at one time said he had to cut one of these, and it took him about 10 minutes with a high quality angle grinder and diamond cutting wheel. Update 1yr to the month, this lock is still buttery smooth despite a year of the elements and close proximity to the road, while all the other locks I bought previously have loooong since frozen up and been trashed despite regular lubing, mainly due to rust, which the abus Granit lock appears immune to. I've replaced all but one of my other padlocks with abus granites and I don't think I'll ever buy another brand again unless they stop making them!

As if Lamborghini and Porsche teamed up to make a pocket size version of a Brinks truck
I saw a youtube video (in Russian) of attacks on the 37/55 using a sledgehammer, crowbar, and 42 inch bolt cutters. They scratched the lock. The 37/55 feels heavy for its size. The shackle has a hard "ping" to it. Yet it stood up to Russians with sledgehammers, showing perfect differential hardening. The black "Granit" finish is slick and resists wear. I use my Granit in a special-use $250 hasp. The hasp's steel is so hard that I gave up trying to slightly expand a mounting hole with a hardened steel drill bit. After 2 years of sliding the shackle almost every day thru this insanely hard hasp, there is minimal discoloration/wear on the shackle's black finish.

Buyer beware: this is not a secure lock.
All of these locks use identical keys. The locks even come with the keys attached to a card that says "One key for all your locks." I only realized what this meant after I purchased a second lock and found that the keys from the first one, purchased two years ago, worked on this lock. It seems built very strong, but the use of identical keys renders this lock more of a hardened shackle than a reliable mechanism for securing your valuables. Given that these locks aren't very common (from what I see), you can probably use it to lock trailers in transit. However, for static security (where the lock stays put for long periods of time), you shouldn't rely on this lock. *** All that is required to open this lock is for someone to purchase another one from Amazon or elsewhere. ***

There is a reason why these locks cost as much as they do. They are actually very hard/impossible to pick, cannot be bypassed and generally require power tools to defeat. It's night and day compared to what we're used to here in North America (I'm looking at you, Master Lock!) Just look them up on YouTube. The operation of the key and the lock is super smooth and precise (it's hard to describe). I'm sure it'll last many years. And if it doesn't, I'll find this review and update it (yes, I really will!)
