Excellent fountain pen
This is an excellent fountain pen as expected from a reputed Japanese brand like Pilot. Writes very smooth. And the grip section is very comfortable and can be adjusted for various grips. Particularly for me who cannot write for long time in one grip. I'm using this as a daily writing instrument. The nib is made of steel thus not that much flexible (as expected) which is very suitable for me as I don't like flexible nibs that much. The feed is made out of plastic and a very good quality plastic. So good so that I actually thought it's made of ebonite (ebonite is used in high quality fountain pen feeds which are very expensive and provides a better ink flow).Edit: The people who are complaining about the pen please note that It isn't the fault of the pen. Either you need to change the quality of paper or the ink that you are using. Both are very important for a good fountain pen experience. You can find fountain pen friendly paper or a ink which is usable in moderate quality paper. Do research in Google.

Absolute class!
This is one of the best Entry level fountain pen you can buy. If you are looking to make an investment , I suggest you to buy this one. Absolute bang for your buck. You'll fall in love with fountain pens for sure. This is such a smooth writer, just glides over the paper, not scratchy at all. It writes quite wet. (I've used a Diamine Soft mint ink)It feels absolutely wonderful in your hand, not too heavy not too light. It makes the writing process fun.The nib is quite fine. Since it is a Japanese nib, it is finer than some of the European extra fine (e.g. lamy safari/ al-star etc). Since I use my pens for drawing mostly, I've compared it against the fineliners I've got, I think it comes closest to the 0.2 mm fineliner. So, that's quite fine. Keep in mind it's for this particular paper ( Fabriano eco Qua 85 gsm) , all papers behave differently for fountain pen.The only issue I have that it doesn't come with a cartridge, only the squeeze converter. I wish they threw in a cartridge as well.In conclusion, this is a great pen, that any newbie or expert will love. Go for it.

Great pen for STARTERS... will not disappoint you...!! have a try..!! :)
Hey there, its sayak again...After getting quite a lot requests about this, PILOT METROPOLITAN, pen I have decided to get one...Starting with the cap. Nothing fancy on the cap.. The whole pen is a like a CIGAR SHAPED body which I really enjoy. Made of metal, which adds a little weight to pen.It is a well balanced pen. Available in a bunch of colours & finishes. The section where you hold the pen is tapers down & is made of plastic which gives really good grip. The clip has two engraving words, one is Pilot & other is Japan. The cap also have this engraving on the back side. The feed made of simple plastic but is functional. The nib is very smooth as compared to other inexpensive pens.. Found a little bit feedback..Remember, its a JAPANESE FINE, which is equivalent to WESTERN EXTRA FINE.It looks descent, performs more good in good papers like RHODIA.Signature with the pen is also possible. On The nib, written Pilot, Japan, & some microscopic number. I have the number 815. I really dont know what those numbers means..The nib really performs well & is smooth.. Not as smooth as my other inexpensive pens like TWSBI ECO or LAMY SAFARI, but gives smooth writing. What else you can expect from such an inexpensive fountain pen.Have a Squeeze aromatic type converter. Just dip the nib, squeeze the converter & it will fill up by ink.. Very simple converter which I really enjoy.. Very simple to clean out the converter. The cap is click on system & also post securely to the back side of the pen by friction fit. Some measurements-Length (capped)- 137mmLength (uncapped)- 130mmLength (posted)- 155mmWeight (capped with converter)- 26.4 gWeight (uncapped with converter)- 17.1gGood weight, more than a safari of course.A very good pen for beginners. For further question regarding any fountain pen, please feel free to contact me in fb - fb/sayak.pal1u can find my full review on this pen in my BLOG within one week at - sayakpal.wordpress.comU can also watch out my blog for other fountain pen reviews...Hope this was useful...Regards,Sayak (^__^)

A brilliant writer!
This pen is an absolute bliss to write! A true workhorse I might add. I got the fine nib option and the smoothness of the nib just blew me away. There are some things that I absolutely love about this pen.1. The ink doesn't dry out in the nib. When I pick it up after 2-3 days, it still writes perfectly.2. Perfectly balanced. The weight of the pen is such that it balances perfectly in your hands.3. Very premium quality materials, and that is expected for the price you're paying for this.I write a LOT with this pen, and a full converter easily can write around 15 A4 size pages, both sides. I would highly recommend this for beginners (I am one myself) getting serious about fountain pens.Initially I used it with Parker Quink, but now I use standard Pilot Fountain Pen Ink. Both of them are easily available on Amazon in blue and black options. Finally, for some of you who are confused about Pilot Metropolitan and Pilot MR. They're the same product. This IS a Pilot Metropolitan. In India, it's only available in animal prints. These products vary by country. A Pilot Metropolitan without the animal prints would cost you way more since it's not available easily in India. So I seriously don't recommend buyers to spend all that extra money, rather go for this instead since there is not difference at all.Happy writing!

One of the Best Fountain Pens for Beginners
This is "the" famous Pilot Metropolitan with varied design options. A quick market survey has revealed that this cherished pen will soon disappear from the shelves. The Pilot Metropolitan is certainly one of the best entry-level fountain pens in the market and has made quite a name for itself among collectors and begginer alike. Its steel nib is very smooth and glides over paper if used with a good, lubricated ink. The cap posts really confidently on the pen while writing. This writing instrument is certainly not very heavy neither is it too light. The finish exudes good craftsmanship and the weight is well-balanced.If you are looking to enter the world of fountain pens, this is easily one of the best instruments to begin with. A great "daily-use" pen, it doesn't tire your hands while you write continuously across many pages. The steel nib doesn't offer a lot of line thickness variation, but unless you are someone who is specifically looking at "lettering" this shouldn't bother you. in terms of how it writes, its behaviours resembles the Lamy Safari against the paper.I recommend this product with great enthusiasm.
