It works.
Having purchased the earlier version and experiencing firmware issues, I’ve upgrade to this newer version of the same model. It is basic, but it works, and this later version of the same model plays most files. Customer services and support is good. But note it doesn’t work with the stated NTFS formatted drives. However instead it plays exFAT which is better. exFAT now the default and a better and more modern table. This player will work with the older TVs using the supplied AV cable. However for HDMI you will need to buy a cable, plus 2 AAA batteries for the remote control. But it does come with an additional plug in IR cabled receiver.I think the device is overpriced, but it is small, compact and mobile plus versatile, and good for playing from USB2 and USB3 drives.

Good purchase and quality!
Very pleased with this little media player. Nothing fancy but it does all we need it to do when we go to watch family pics or videos on a big tv screen. Comes with a remote control that’s easy to manage and a power supply etc - all images very good.

Does work for most 4k files
Thls player was very easy to set up. A very good picture produced. Acouple of negatives for me is there is no hdr which to be fair i should have checked before ordering as i was using kodi on xbox1 which also does not have hdr. Also its not always possible to switch the subs off

Not fit for purpose
This is a disappointment. On paper it is a cost effective playback source, so I planned to use it to playout videos off USB sticks and SD cards into an Atem mixer for live event streaming. But in practice it doesn't work consistently nor reliably. Of the various media and formats of video I tried it rarely played back files without issues. Some MP4s were not readable whilst other MP4s from the same source played OK. Then some would not play the audio from the MP4. Other clips would play for a couple of seconds then skip to the next file on the card. The vision was also poor - with some 1080p 25fps videos showing juddering. Maybe the chip decoder is just not good enough but this makes the whole box unreliable - you just can't trust it to play the files in every situation. The interface is klunky too - and you certainly can't use it to cue up a list of files to play in sequence. The copy and paste of files never worked too.The dual HDMI outs is possibly helpful but only if you could have the onscreen controls and interface on one output to a monitor and the other HDMI out clean of graphics. Sadly this is not a feature - so you can't access the menu without it appearing on the live output. So whilst it is cheap - it is not fit for purpose. I returned it.

It works and is simple to use!
For the price this works great. I needed it to play a .mov file from a memory stick in a loop. No problem. Can't comment on the other features as I haven't them.

Good for most, no shuffle for photos though
Plays video and music well but the random function for photos doesn't work

Excellent piece of equipment
Bought a more expensive one that didnt work and that only came with an incorrect power supply. Returned it and bought this one and it’s great. Straight out of the box easy to set up and watching videos in all formats including VOB which I haven’t seen for years . Highly recommend

Easy to use in a basic way, but with limited options
If you have a media collection that includes DVDs ripped to conform with their original folder structure this player is operationally useless. The player does not recognise the directory structure of ripped DVDs, and does not provide access to the digitised DVD via the disc menu. It will play individual VOB files within a containing folder, but will not play "in one go" anything made up of sequential VOB files (such as a long movie). The player is useful in that it handles big mkv files and H265 encoded files. However, I found it flaky on scaling unconventional image sizes and aspect ratios within standard display sizes. The rescaling seemed crude in some of these instances, and picture quality suffered, somewhat undermining the point of having an OS that can play nice high-res files...Subtitle formatting options are practically non-existent, but that's ok if you don't mind big yellow or white ones. The remote is better than some that come with cheap media players, but most of the on-screen navigation prompts are in text that is too small to read on any screen that's not a physically huge 4k one.Verdict: ok-ish for newer file types on a big 4k screen; poor-to-no support for ripped DVDs; limited formatting options (video image and subs); menus hard to navigate on, say, a medium-sized HD (1920 x 1080) display (i.e. without binoculars or other magnifier).Amazon accepted my return via their fairly easy process.
