How does it even connect ?

It connects via Bluetooth. If you have a 1st or 2nd generation iPad, it doesn't support it.

Is this compatible with the numark pt01 scratch?

Short version, Yes... they make a docking station for it for ease of usage.

Is the software required for the Hamster, Curve, etc. features?

Actually, I'm not sure. I tried to connect it to my turntable with software for an ibook, with on avail. So, it's mainly connected to a edjing app on my phone/ ipad. Hope to figure out myself. Sorry :(
