This blue and white pottery called somutsuke in Japanese is crafted by painting the porcelain bowls with a cobalt rich pigment known as gosu or zaffer. It is then coated with transparent glaze and fired. The Hinomaru Collection of Japanese Bowls feature a wide range of porcelain bowls crafted by artisans from Mino City, Gifu prefecture in Japan.

Beautiful, Authentic Japanese Ramen Bowls
Not so many things today are worth the price. These are worth the price at $45.99 for 2 bowls. Just a solid, quality, good looking bowl, with Japanese craftsmanship. Have used in a microwave for reheating soup, so no problem there as well. Was very happy with purchase and bought 2 more plus a simple round dish from the same collection but it looks like that has since sold out.Items were packaged well so I think they have addressed that concern...

Arrived broken. So disappointed because they looked pretty nice.Update: received replacement - arrived broken again. Poor packaging- It's just a piece of paper between two bowls.
