Great for blocking mud spray, installation was a challenge
The SKS Shockblade fender definitely solves the problem of preventing mud from getting splashed on your face and clothes. This fender was specifically designed to accommodate mountain bikes with front suspension. It was a little difficult installing since the instructions are not very clear. The instructions don't mention that screw needs to be tightened enough to make the cone expand. I was only successful in installing the fender, after contacting SKS, who sent me a video on how the expansion cone worked:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmGhhx758METhe cone is made of plastic, so if you tighten it too much, you run the risk of cracking it. Also, the largest cone can accommodate a 1.5 inch tapered steerer tube (which is not mentioned anywhere). This is the reason I am not giving it a 5-star rating, since SKS needs to re-write the instructions to make them more clear. You may need to re-adjust cable positioning in order for the fender to sit straight. Also, some people have recommended wrapping the expansion cone with electrical tape to make a tighter fit.The product page doesn't mention that fender's installation kit comes with 5 different sized mounting cones:cone diameter 1 – 5-19 mmcone diameter 2 – 19-23 mmcone diameter 3 – 23-27 mmcone diameter 4 – 27-31 mmcone diameter 5 – 31-35 mm

Only minor flaws. Easy to install and works.
Works great and was easy to install. I glanced at the installation instructions because it was intuitive enough to figure out. Kit included various plugs to accommodate various steering tube size. Two downsides: 1) It wobbles a little when riding because there is a little play between the connector rail and the slot in the fender. This was disconcerting at first till I realized it wasn't going to fall off. 2) I wish they would provide a second mounting kit with the fender to allow adding to a second bike. I use it for winter biking I helps keep slush off of me and the upper portion of the bike.

Works great, once the adapter is installed
Works great, once the adapter is installed, fender is easy on/off. Instructions suck but if you have ever done anything before you should be able to figure out how to install. Haven't had it long enough to judge durability.

Fantastic Product
Fantastic Product. Working in Afghanistan, I ride my bike almost everywhere I need to go. It's a tough environment and previous fenders failed to last long. Not only have these durable fenders lasted a year so far, not only have they shown no signs of falling apart, not only have I not needed to adjust them since first installation; but they work REALLY well. Just tonight I became stuck riding in a sudden thunderstorm. My butt is about the only thing that wasn't soaking wet after this ride, and the back of my shirt was free of muddy rooster tails. Purchasing these will not result in dissatisfaction.

Light, durable, flexible, easy & quick on/off. Wide enough to offer protection with 2.3 tire. No more splatter on the goggle.
Light, durable, flexible, easy & quick on/off. Wide enough to offer protection with 2.3 tire. No more splatter on the goggle anymore.Bike Setup: All-mountain full suspension 120 mm front/rear.The new SKS Shockblade II is becoming better and better over the years. In contrast to the previous Mk I, the Mk II now provides a perfect coverage with a 2.3 tire thanks to an increase in wing width. Combined with a SKS X-Mud board mounted quite low on the low front tube, it provides a much better coverage to the rider: only feet are now getting wet and muddy. As my 120 mm fork was equipped with a remote poplock on the top right tube, I had to make a small cutout in the plastic material of the Shockblade to let the cable freely passes through without making a sharp kink or be pinched. In sum, this is perhaps the best mudguard ever designed out there after 2 years of use. Highly recommended.
