Microsoft Lumia 950 XL RM-1085 32GB White, Single Sim, 5.7", 20MP, 3GB Ram, Unlocked International Model, No Warranty

I've had my Lumia 950 XL for about a month now. I purchased the black-case international XL model. Only drawback is it came with an Australian plug & no US adapter. But AU to US adapters are $5 on Amazon & the USB wire can plug into your computer or a USB dock so you can charge it as-is. No big deal.I updated from a Lumia 640 running Windows 8.1 & that was still working great after 2-ish years. I just wanted to get Windows 10, more memory & the option to test out Continuum (the PC-like dock interface). I also purchased a 128GB card to expand the memory so I have around 150GB to work with... more than I expect I'll ever need on a phone even with tons of audiobooks & pics.After doing the setup, it did updates for a couple days. After that, all was well & it ran at full speed. It's been rock-solid so far... no crashes or reboots.Impressions so far...The camera is fantastic for both pictures & video. Amazing quality & quick picture taking. Taking videos is HD & smooth... better than the camcorder we'd previously been using so it'll now be my go-to for family videos. The speaker is above average... better than my old 640 in sound depth, but not much higher volume really. The screen display is wonderful. I'd been reading on my Kindle prior to this phone, but now find I like reading books better on my 950 with the Kindle app. So my Kindle won't get as much use now. :)I picked up a Microsoft Display Dock along with the phone, and have used Continuum a couple times. I attached a wireless keyboard/mouse, and plugged it into my monitor via HDMI. Came up immediately with no issues. Looks a lot like you're on a Windows 10 PC, but you can only have one app in the forefront at a time. Not all phone apps will work in Continuum. Word, Excel, Powerpoint & Edge work fine though, along with a good chunk of other apps. And one interesting thing to note... while Flash stuff doesn't work well in phone mode, in Continuum using Microsoft Edge the Flash stuff works fine just like on a PC. So you can do Amazon Prime videos & other Flash video/game sites with no problems that way. I find it odd that Flash works great in Continuum mode, but not in mobile mode. Maybe that's something that'll be fixed in a patch later (or maybe it's just some setting I haven't figured out yet). I'm also able to use my phone to connect to my work computer via VNC & a remote desktop in Continuum and it works great. Anyway, Continuum is cool & has some great business & entertainment possibilities. I look forward to playing with it more.Lastly... the big elephant in the room with Windows phones... the 'app gap'. This is the simple fact that Windows doesn't have nearly as many of the prime apps that Android & Apple has. I wish Microsoft would get with the program here & make more apps that people want... then they might be able to get more than 2% of the cell phone market share! But on the whole, this doesn't affect me much. I'm not a heavy gamer. The apps I use are pretty much there... Amazon Kindle, Audible, Hulu, CBS All-Access, AudioBooked, iPodCast, Pandora, MS Word & Excel, Skype for Business, I Heart Radio, etc. There are some great Windows Phone games available, don't get me wrong! I play a few here & there and they run flawlessly on this phone. But I'm more into the practical stuff.So, to end the review: It's an amazing phone with amazing possibilities. If you're not a heavy phone gamer that needs all the latest games & apps, then this Windows Phone could be great for you. I think Windows is absolutely the best cell phone interface out there. And hopefully, as Windows 10 progresses, in the future there will be more apps made that work both on your Windows phone & PC.

So, first off, I'm a bit of a phone hopper. I've owned every iPhone up until the 5. I've owned many Androids including the Sony Z, ZL and I have used the Blackberry 10 OS recently as well as the Priv.Pros:Beautiful 1440p(?) screen that has good natural colors and great accuracy.Responsive touchscreen that works well with both fingers and stylus.Lightweight (This could be a con for some people; but not me)The back, while plastic, has a smooth quality finish to it.Win10 mobile runs great and if you're not an app junky, this has everything I need; Facebook, Skype, Twitter, Spotify as well as all the basics.Fairly easy to use; Not as self-explanatory as the iPhone but having never used a Windows phone before, I learned quickly.Internet browsing is fast, edge is surprisingly good on the mobile, ironic considering I hate it on PC.Speaker is decently loud while maintaining good quality; though not as loud as some of the LG or Google phones.Dedicated camera button; This was a selling point for me. I can't own a phone without one.Amazing camera, as well. Majority of my friends own the iPhone 6's; and they pale in comparison to this camera and screen.Affordable; Seems this day and age prices are getting insane for phones and relative to its price this is a grade A phone.Cons:Brightness could be better on the screen. While it's beautiful and vivid; I find myself just wanting one setting higher than the brightest available.Battery life isn't that great. It lasted about 36 hours of decent internet use under wifi.Lack of high quality materials; While it's a great phone, don't expect the luxury metal back or high quality side buttons.Not many quality apps; While I am not a constant app browser and I only use the major ones, it didn't take me long to realize the diversity of apps on Windows 10 didn't hold a candle to iPhone or android. But if you're not an app addict it has more than enough.Contact list is a bit, odd; I'm not a fan of the Outlook requirement of the phone and the lack of customizability of contacts is mind boggling.Doesn't come with headphones/earbuds, wish more companies would take that seriously.Extremely hard to find fitted cases. If you can't visit a Microsoft store just order one online. I purchased the Jack Spade case and it's great.Final Thoughts:I'm surprised this phone isn't more popular. I suppose it's kind of a secluded market but my first impressions of the phone are amazing. While it may sound like a lot of cons, for my personal needs and preference, I'm not docking any points. I think Windows 10 runs great, the phone looks great, has a small screen to bezel ratio and is lighter and more comfortable than other comparably sized phones while providing more screen and resolution. I'm not really a phone gamer and the games seem lacking on this platform but the ones I have tried, run and look amazing.While I was shopping I was comparing the iPhone 6 Plus, Sony Xperia XZ and the Blackberry Priv. I was almost dead set on the Priv due to price and the fact I've always loved Blackberry's but ultimately I settled on this for the screen size and Android never did appeal to me. I believe I made the right choice. For $300 I don't believe anything comes close. If you are willing to drop $500-600 on a phone, the Xperia XZ is probably the best choice followed closely by the iPhone 6S/Plus; But after a lot of comparison I just couldn't justify dropping such a huge amount on a phone after I just recently bought a laptop for $700.Hope I can help someone's future decision!PS: I am using this on T-Mobile in the US and it is working flawlessly. Connectivity is fine and call quality is just as good if not better than any of my previous phones.

Windows Mobile is very good but Microsoft needs to fix their services.

I've had an iPhone for 7 years. Never thought I'd be pulled away from it. But I have to say I love this windows phone. It does everything that my iPhone 6s did. I only bought it because my wife's iPhone died and didn't want to spend the money right now on another one. I won't be buying another one. The camera on this phone is amazing, the screen looks way better than my 6s. And the performance is very comparable. The only reason I wouldn't give it a full five stars is the fact that the availability of apps and their performance isn't quite there. But that's something I knew going into this purchase and really hasn't been a problem. I just do the few tasks through the web browser, which works great. The home screen, or start screen they call it, is very customizable and I love the live tiles. The settings aren't quite as user friendly as the iPhone but all in all this is a great phone. I say come on Microsoft, invest in yourself and fix the app issue and many people would feel better about switching. But I think in the future its not going to be a problem and am excited to see what lies ahead. Overall very happy with this phone

Great phone. Had a Windows 8 phone but this is far superior. The Camera is wonderful. People complain there are not enough Apps but it has all that I need. Unfortunately some programs that work on Windows computer will not work on Windows as they have not been adapted for Windows Mobile, but not a real problem as I do not intend on using my phone for everything as print and keyboard on any phone is too small for me to do serious stuff. If I am working, banking, buying or what ever I prefer a big screen and Keyboard.

Das große Lumia ist ein zuverlässiges Smartphone mit guter Leistung (Display, Performance, Kamera).Leider wird mit ihm die Bereitstellung von Windows Phone auslaufen...Ansonsten eine unbedingte Empfehlung.Im App-Store muss man schon deutliche Abstriche gegenüber iOS und Android machen - schade!

Comme tous les Windows phone, hélas en voie de disparition, ce smartphone est au top. Fluidité parfaite du système, l'écran est très lisible, très beau. Les photos prises magnifiques et l'ensemble marche très bien.

Quando il gioco si fa duro i duri cominciano a giocare! Microsoft si è letteralmente superata con questo phablet.Attenzione tutto è migliorabile (la perfezione è divina!), ma questo telefono e veramente realizzato con cura e attenzione.I PRO:- Schermo eccezionale come grandezza, risoluzione e contrasto.- Fotocamera ottima con possibilità di lavorare completamente in manuale e un'apertura di f1.9 che rende le foto morbide, dettagliate e luminose anche in scarsa condizione di luce oppure con le impostazioni auto che mettono a disposizione una messa a fuoco discretamente veloce, uno scatto velocissimo e l'HDR automatico (decide la camera quando serve o meno). Si può scattare con flash e successivamente toglierlo o attenuarlo sulla foto scattata.- Assistente vocale ben fatto, anche se non all'altezza di iPhone. Possibilità di fissare promemoria anche incrociando la propria posizione. Ad esempio si può dire: "Ehi CORTANA!! Quando arrivo a casa ricordami di mettere il pesce nel congelatore!" e il telefono appena metti piede dentro casa ti suona e ti dice che devi mettere il pesce nel congelatore! Tutto senza toccare il telefono!!! Voi direte e se non riconosce la posizione? ...BUTTI IL PESCE!!!- Il Volume di ascolto sia in cuffia che con gli altoparlanti di sistema è veramente buono, superiore alla media, anche all'iPhone 6! (test di HDblog) .- App Store non fornitissimo ma con tutto quello che serve per lavorare.- Fluidità di movimento.- Radio FM che non guasta soprattutto la domenica con le partite! ;) ((con l'Anniversary update Microsoft ha deciso di togliere la radio di sistema ma nello store se ne trovano parecchie.))- Software finalmente ben fatto! Sono state corrette una miriade di piccole pecche che stavano su WP 8.1 e che lo rendevano un SO che sembrava sempre un beta release. W10 è veramente fluido e ci sono tante impostazioni che prima non esistevano. Finalmente abbiamo un volume per le app., uno per la suoneria e uno per la cuffia! ...per dirne una. Poi ci sono le cartelle come in un vero computer per esplorare i file del telefono e si possono veramente vedere TUTTE le app che girano in BG e i temporary files che andavano a sovraccaricare e conseguentemente a bloccare il vecchio WP8.1! Il Multi tasking è vero! Il passaggio da una pagina all'altra è rapido e fluido...- Riconoscimento dell'IRIDE, ATTENZIONE NON FACCIALE!!!, ma dell'IRIDE! Una tecnologia all'avanguardia che farà sicuramente da apripista ad altri costruttori. Provata con soddisfazione ed utilizzata senza problemi anche al buio! Unico Neo se di neo si può parlare, è che mentre si cammina per strada se si vuole sbloccare il telefono bisogna guardare la camera frontale da una distanza di circa 10 centimetri per qualche secondo con lo sguardo rivolto verso il display e gli occhi ben aperti, il che vuol dire che o ci si ferma un attimo o si rischia, se non di andare a sbattere contro un palo, quanto meno di essere presi per MATTI! Comunque se non si vuole usare questa funzione si può inserire il PIN personale.- Tempo di ricarica con il caricabatterie in dotazione di sole 2 ORE e in mezz'ora si ottiene il 50% di ricarica!!!- Per non parlare della possibilità di prendere la Display Dock in omaggio per avere praticamente un computer sempre in tasca.. Io l'ho ordinata immediatamente e sono in trepidante attesa!Insomma un aggeggio che credo darà più di qualche noia ai suoi "avversari".Non state a sentire quelli che gettano fango senza nemmeno aspettare che finiscano gli upgrade del SO. Fate fare tutti gli aggiornamenti e poi parlate.Io in tre giorni ho messo tutto a punto e nonostante i continui download e le continue installazioni per aggiornare il SO e la varie APP (anche troppe per i miei gusti) il telefono non si mai bloccato.Veniamo ai CONTRO:- Nonostante il tanto decantato raffreddamento a liquido, se si tiene il telefono in mano dopo un po' (Qualche ora) che ci si lavora, si avverte un calore superiore rispetto ad altri apparecchi ma comunque tollerabile.- La batteria fino all'aggiornamento non arrivava a fine giornata ma ripeto nei primi due giorni ho fatto continue installazioni e download sia in WIFI che in connessione 4G quindi credo sia del tutto normale. comunque visti i tempi ridotti di ricarica non è un grosso problema. Con l'aggiornamento ho letto che la situazione migliora ma non ho avuto ancora modo di verificare.- La procedura per ordinare il Display DOCK è farraginosa ho dovuto disinstallare LUMIA OFFERS e re-installarlo per avviare il tutto.- L'assistente vocale si chiama CORTANA, fin qui fatti vostri se gli avete voluto mettere questo nome... Però il fatto che per attivarlo si debba dire "EHI CORTANA!", quando sei in mezzo alla gente un po' di imbarazzo te lo dà. Cominci a bassa voce: "pss ehi cortana" ma il telefono non ti sente. Allora devi ripetere più deciso: "EHI cortana..." ma niente! Al terzo tentativo urli: "EHI CORTANA!!!" così tutti si girano dicendo: "Ecco il MATTO di prima che camminava con il naso attaccato allo schermo!".- ULTIMO CONTRO è il fatto che nello store microsoft non esistono ancora accessori dedicati a questo gioiello. Voglio dire, e qui ce l'ho con Microsoft che ancora non ha imparato da Samsung o da Apple! Ma fate un gioiellino che costa fior di quattrini e non pensate a fargli una custodia originale o un astuccio che si possa acquistare nello store in tutta sicurezza invece di avventurarsi in rete fra:"custodia in pelle progettazione di UQALITA" "Rispondere e terminare le chiamate, o ascoltare musica mentre gli auricolari siano rumore ISOLATIONG." E questa che è la meglio "PRANZO all'interno del prodotto si ottiene una protezione per lo schermo GRATUITO" !!!Roba cinese tradotta da GOOGLE traduttore dal cinese all'inglese al francese al turco e poi all'italiano che alla fine non sai nemmeno che hai comprato e che rischia di MACCHIARTI IL TELEFONO, o di graffiartelo o di tappare i sensori o gli speaker insomma... SBRIGATEVI A FARE UN FLIPCASE ORIGINALE che chi ha speso 600 EURO per un telefono magari vuole anche proteggerlo!BUON ANNO a tutti!
