Fantastic read
This is an excellent brief vernacular social history of the world through woollen textiles, sheep meat and sheep dairy products. It is absolutely fascinating. It's a long time since I have enjoyed such a good read. The style is fast and witty and very entertaining. Thoroughly recommend it.

Very informative
There is a lot covered in this book however I frequently felt that a bit more work and thought could have been done on how it was organised. It felt sporadic, chaotic in places (esp in the first half of the book).

Fantastic book
Brilliantly written and easy to read book about the role sheep have played in our lives, and ours in theirs. It may seem like an odd topic but it is a fascinating read.

Excellent read
One for my fabric history bookshelf. Engaging and informative. Highly recommended for historians as well as those who love wool in all its forms.

Full of woolly tales
Fantastic read, well-written and extremely well-researched whilst remaining light and with a strong narrative hook. I hope it doesn't get missed by those interested in textile history as it has so much to say about wool. The chapter about the exploitation of the poor by the rich in service of Britain's wool-industry was particularly sobering.

Mostly facts about sheep in history
Did not hold my attention. In my opinion it contains lots of information about sheep in human history strung together. I donated it to a charity shop.

Beautiful ❤️ Lindo
A pleasant, calm and good read even for someone like me who has English as a second language. Each chapter brings human history in a lively and curious way. It's learning about the world from the sheep. It's incredible how the book surprises with historical facts and unexpected anecdotes that have woven the history of humanity just because the old and yet underrated sheep exist in the first place.

An amazing work that carried method of Archaezoology and Animal History
A good work on "how the evolution of human civilization churned around the sheep". This work is written on factual basis were it tremendously focused on sheep to human history than human-animal history. Starting from the Prehistoric period and ended till Modern era. This book narrates science through history with creation.

Respect for Sheep and How They Shaped History
As a shepherd I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Intelligently written, it clearly traces the relationship between sheep and humans through the centuries and illuminates the reader's awareness about shepherding and how the economic value of sheep and wool have affected issues ranging from child labor to the US revolution against England and much more. A pleasure to read and sufficiently well documented to give me good faith in its accuracy.
