Quality knives
These are great knives, and I can personally attest that they are razor sharp ( have the small cuts to prove it). After 20+ years with our prior Henckels, it was time to purchase a new set of knives. The color goes very well with our kitchen and this set not only brings scissors but a Japanese style knife and a sharpening tool. I am extremely pleased with this knife set and the block. These Henckels are high quality knives that will slice, pare and cut through a thick steak very smoothly. These knives will last for quite some time evidenced by the long use of our prior Henckels, which we still use by the way.

sharp and effective
Excellent quality and super sharp. We had an older set of knives and didn't realize how bad they were until we got these knives. My wife loves the white handles and they go perfectly with our quartz countertops

Decent quality blades that are easy to keep sharp
The steel is arguably soft, but that is typical of european (particularly german) blades. The iron content of this stainless steel is high and the nickel content may be low. If left wet for long, it may develop rust spots. However, you should always clean and dry a knife after using it anyway. If taken care of, these blades will last many years. They will cut what you want and retain a nice shape. The chef's knife is great. It is the primary knife used in my kitchen. It is comfortable to use, slices through most anything with relative ease. After about ten to fifteen diced onions I like to hone the blade again to keep work quick and easy. A dull knife is much more dangerous than a sharp one they say. Despite frequent maintenance, it does an excellent job and doesn't fatigue me.The santokus are of decent quality, and feel excellent for everyday tasks. The larger one has a good weight and feeling allowing for prolonged veggie extermination, and the smaller one is light and maneuverable to really slice and shape whatever you need. The paring knife is a razor blade with a handle basically. If the chef knife is too big or unwieldy for a task, the lil guy will step up with no issue. The bread knife is sharp. It WILL cut bread. Cake too, I bet. There is another smaller serrated knife but I have yet to use it.The scissors are nothing special but provide you something to open any package of food. The steak knives are beautiful but have lesser quality steel than the bigger knives. These will straight up form rust spots if left in the sink overnight, esp along the handle and spine of the blade. Just clean them after use and they should stay pretty and sharp for ya.The included file is useful to keep my blades honed.I'd say this set is a pretty solid value for your money if you are looking for a good set of knives for the kitchen. If you don't sharpen your knives or prefer a cheap kitchenaid knife, this isn't for you. For the home cook who uses their knives for everything and appreciates them, I recommend them.

Poor quality handles- not living up to the Henckels brand.
Got these as a father's day gift- second set in a lifetime, pretty good track record for a product. But went with the white handles this time... big mistake. At a year old, the handles on well over half the knives have cracked and/ or stained. Granted, these get daily use (some more than others) but they are hand washed and not used in a commercial kitchen or for opening paint cans or thrown at cinderblocks for target practice, or dragged behind my car on the way to work. Primary use: chopping vegetables and fruit, cutting steak and chicken, and on rare occasion to break the seal on a package. Yet they look like they're primarily used to pound in nails when a hammer can't be located.Really disappointing performance on the handles. The blades are what you've come to expect from Henckles, sharp, resilient. But wow- they did not test the white handles at all before unleashing them on the world.

Wedding gift
My husband and I got these knives as a wedding gift and we really like them. The handle is super sturdy and they come pretty sharp. The only thing I've noticed is that they have dulled a little bit after about 6 months of use and some of the knife blades have a little rust spot on them. That was super disappointing to find. We only hand wash them.

Good knives for the price
Good knives, very sharp out of the box. However, the handle feels on a cheaper side but I think the time will show how it is
