This hat is well made, comfortable and protective of the Sun's harm. I've had compliments from fellow golfer on the style.

I’m rating the hat on the basis of wanting a sturdy sun hat I can wear under windy conditions. That’s because in calmer conditions I wear a larger lifeguard type sun hat, which in the wind is hard to keep on even with a good chin strap. If it’s just flat out blowing hard I’ll go down to a baseball cap but I consider them close to worthless in high sun. Here you see biking as a good example. In adjoining pix I have sewn onto the inner sweat band a double sided piece of denim. The reason is so the hat fits snugly, and I don’t need the chin strap unless the blow is fairly high. There are other ways of snugging up a hat band. Pay attention to the sizing as you want a comfortable but firm fit. Crush this hat in your suitcase and it pops right back; another reason if you need a travel sun hat but don’t see lugging a broad brim along. Another reason for this hat is avoiding a straw hat in this dimension. The big straw lifeguard hats seem to last okay but straw hats with a high crown of this type start to fray and fracture on me after a season. I’m including fairly expensive ones in this category, although they can be light and attractive. Keep a hat like that for happy hour and use this one when out for a hard day in the sun offshore fishing or skeet shooting. It’s a good midrange utility sun hat that looks decent to my eye.

Top quality materials and sewing from a US company. Better than an older Tilley hat I have that is now made in China and costs almost twice as much. The ventilation on the sides of the crown is excellent. Not crushable, just can fold up side to side but it doesn’t seem to hurt it. The XL just fit me at a hat size of 7 3/4.

3” brim is perfect for protecting ears and neck. Mesh crown keeps head cool even on hottest days. I have several versions in various colors. I didn’t buy it seeking compliments from random strangers, but they come anyway. Wonderfully made and it is washable and crushable HOWEVER in time the front of the crown will lose its great shape if the hat is put on and taken off grasping the front, degrading its appearance. You have to train yourself to handle it by the brim. I wear it everywhere.Recently the price from various providers has varied widely. I rarely pay more than $40.

I purchased two of these hats with the same brand from two different sources. The head size was inconsistent. One hat fit perfectly and the other was a bit snug.
