I installed this on the wall of my garage and I never have to fish out another extension cord when using my table saw, welder, box fan or other electrical tools. It is really convenient and rolls back so easly. High recommendation for this product.

This was a replacement for another one that I bought at Lowe's. The old one lasted about 2 years, but the plugs got loose and it would trip anytime I used my compound mitre saw. This one is far better than what I had before. You can tell that it's well made, heavy duty and durable. Easy to install (I put on my garage ceiling for easy access that's out of the way). It's worked great, gives me a lot of extra extension reach with or without another extension cord and it will take the load from all of my power tools! Will absolutely buy again if I need it.

Feb 2022 edit:I’ve used this reel a lot by now and am very happy with it. The rewind spring is still working great, the cord is holding up well, and it hasn’t fallen off my ceiling (see my comments below on the challenges of mounting it). Occasionally, if I run my table saw and shop vac off the cord, the fuse in the cord near the plug will trip. It’s simple enoug to pop it back in and it’s definitely easier than running inside and down tot eh basement to flip a breaker back on.I mounted this in the ceiling of my garage.Mounting is more difficult that it has to be, because you don't have much space between the bracket and the red casing. Consequently, your lag bolts must be sticking out no more than around 3/4 of an inch.Also, with a ceiling mount, you can't be sure the bracket won't back off the lag bolts if you happen to pull the reel laterally. To guard against that, I put a 'lock' screw into the middle hole in the bracket, which doesn't have the two-sized opening the other mounting holes have. This was till a challenge, though, because of the lack of clearance. Also, the reel is quite heavy, so you don't want to be holding it on a ladder for too long.So far, I have used the reel itself very little, but it appears easy to unreel and reel in the cord.

This is a replacement to a different brand I used to have and it's far superior. Very rugged, very excellent swivel, and the adjustable cord stop is a nice feature for mounting it up good and high. Connection holes are good and solid, your tools won't keep coming unplugged.

If you look around on here it becomes pretty obvious that there are only a few manufacturers of these and probably 50 different brands. I was looking for quality at the best price and found this reel. Two main things I wanted was at least a 14 gauge wire (carries the current better without heating up) and at least 40 foot length. I mounted it on my ceiling pointing down near my garage door opener. The unit works pretty well in that orientation, although there is a learning curve on where exactly to stop in order for it to lock in position. One tug and it reels in super well which means the spring inside of it is appropriately sized. It's a terrific value over what you can buy in the big-box stores.

Did everything I expected it to for almost 2 years. Use this reel at most 5 times per week to get power around my garage. So I would have pulled this cord out about 520 times in its life. Now it randomly will not catch to stay out making it useless as a cord reel. I pulled it apart and am not able to fix as the pawl will not reset to its operating position. I also cannot dig in any deeper without releasing the spring. Manufacturer states no parts are available and the 1 year warranty is expired. So now I have a big useless hunk of plastic. Might just take the cord off the reel and use as a normal extension cord.Would have expected a longer life than 520 pulls of this reel.

So far so good.Seeing negative comments as to hard to install issues, the instructions should note a procedure to remove the bracket from the reel so as to easily install the bracket first and then re install the reel on to the installed bracket.

Convenient to use. Mounted it to a wall near the garage door. It is available inside and outside.

I've used it maybe a dozen times and it works great so far. There's a lot of reviews here that say it broke but if you ease it back in and not release it from 15 feet away, I think it will last well.
