Having been made aware of the 14 Leadership principles developed at Amazon. Reading a insiders description and references to there development really helped them hit home. John Rossman's unique insight from the early days of Amazon truly make the effectiveness of driving principles come to life! Great addition to any management portfolio.

Useful for those interested in corporate tech. or modern business generally!

Fascinating view into Bezo's world and how he has revolutionized commerce. Rossman's anecdotes are entertaining and his writing is excellent. Full of concepts and tactics that can be employed in all industries. Highy recommended for all leaders.

There are many books and articles written about Amazon ways of leadership but John here has defined and illustrated them very well such that any one would be able to relate to some, if not all, of these LPs (Leadership Principles).There are many day-to-day scenarios for each of these LPs which help one think through how to apply them in their own way. For example, when explaining the principle of “Invent and Simplify’, John given many examples and an Amazon story about how to identify ‘bureaucracy’. We all complain about bureaucracy but reading that section gives you a clear picture of where it is and how to avoid it. Although, avoiding it might require leadership behavior change.Being an early ex-Amazonian and having the pleasure of working with John, I have practiced these principles myself, but they have never been documented like this and they have evolved over time in their meaning and application. I understand these principles a lot more now after reading this book. It is almost like a quick reference that you want to keep with you and to constantly remind you of the behaviors.Reading through the book, you will have an immense understanding of Jeff’s mindset and how that is/was critical to where Amazon is now. These LPs have become the muscle memory for Amazon and they are followed everywhere like a scientific process. You can read about these LPs anywhere but this book goes into the deep layers of why and how of these principles as well as how to strike the right balance. For example, if you focus too much the principles of “Dive Deep” and “Insist on Highest Standards”, then your team might slow down and not deliver on “Bias for Action” and “Deliver Results”.One of the Appendix also asks the question that help you personalize these to your own scenarios or develop principles of your own. The book gives you a complete history of why Amazon is where they are and almost lists the recipe of how to become one. But one of the key ingredients is relentlessness of Jeff. You can pick and choose the ingredients from this book and the resulting dish will be your own.

The Amazon Way book has re-energized me.I'm a business owner and board member. Sometimes you can get tired and tire of the same 'ol same ol'. This book reminded me of what is possible in business and the excitement that business can provide.The book is loaded with thought provoking ideas and concepts that I can apply to my businesses. It's a great read! I highly recommend it to any business person.
