Look no further. This is the best bargain around.
I initially bought a Zoo-med infrared 150 watts heat lamp in order to heat up silicone rubber molds to cast clear resin parts. You can surely feel the heat from the bulb...if you're close up to it, like 6 inches. The further away then the more noticeable the heat difference. It probably does a good job for warming reptile pets, but not for what I wanted. After reviewing several other heat bulbs I chose this one, although it had no reviews at the time and have to say I am really glad I did.The seller wrapped the inside and outside of the bulb package in bubble wrap. I screwed her in, turned her on and I could instantly feel a great amount of heat coming from the lamp, even as far as a foot and a half away.To check out her heating abilities I placed an old credit card under the lamp about a foot away and within 3 minutes the card started to warp!Used this lamp to heat up my rubber molds and it does an excellent job. It doesn't just heat the surface, this is good penetrating heat I can feel throughout the mold. The light is not very bright, it is quite subdued which I expected for a red bulb. I used the Zoo-Med heat lamp with a dimmer http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Deluxe-Dimmable-8-5-Inch/dp/B000FTEQCY/ref=pd_sim_hi_6. The description says it is only rated for a maximum of 200 watts but I have not had any problems. Just to be safe I never leave it on if I won't be around :-). Rated at 5000 hours and using it an average of 1-2 hours per mold session I feel I got a great deal here. If you need a heat bulb for heating anything, even with shipping this is still the best deal around.

this is pretty old school, but they work
We were staying at a vacation rental and the bathroom was chilly. No heat. It was set up for a couple of these, bought them, used them for a month then left them. We had no use for them at home. We have heaters. They don't put out a lot of heat but it was more than we had before.

Excellent bulb - no dead spot in the middle of the beam like other bulbs
I have tried about five different brands of 250 watt heat lamps. Most seem to have a bit of a 'dead spot' right in the middle of the area the lamp is shining on. But the GE bulb does not have this dead spot. So I'm replacing all my heat lamps with the GE bulb.I can't really figure out why the other bulbs have this 'dead spot'. The filaments and filament supports look pretty much the same on all the bulbs. But it must just be a detail of the construction. Whatever it is, I'm glad I found the GE heat lamp bulb.Edit: I looked more closely at the GE filament. The filament in the GE bulb is noticeable different than the other bulbs. It looks to be a bit thicker and less tightly wound into a 'spring' shape than other bulbs. One odd thing is the GE bulb has no markings whatsoever on it, no model #, it doesn't say GE, etc. Other bulbs usually have at least some number on them. Some like Philips but the brand name on the bulb.I use these for sauna therapy (ala Dr. Lawrence Wilson).

Previously opened and improperly repacked; both bulbs failed after less than an hour's use.
Problems:1--No cushioning anywhere in the boxes;2--The stabilizing cards were not on the bulb stems, but laying loosely above the large ends of the bulbs;3--One bulb broke apart in the ceiling fixture the third time it was powered on. The second bulb died a more dignified death. When I opened the shipping box, I saw two GE boxes that both appeared to have been opened previously. Upon opening the first factory box, I noticed that the flat, white pasteboard disk that should have been on the base or stem to stabilize the bulb was instead sitting loosely on top of the broad face of the bulb. The second bulb was similarly mis-packed. There was no cushioning material.Instead of seeking an immediate refund, I installed the bulbs and flipped the light switch. Both illuminated. I turned them off after a minute or so. The next morning (today) I turned them on, showered, and dried myself, then switched them off. Tonight after exercising, I turned them on for the third time. After a few seconds, l heard a "pop." Both bulbs were out; one was hanging an inch or two lower than the other. It had broken off at the base and I had to remove the base with pliers. The second bulb would not light after removal of the obviously broken one. Then I had to vacuum the tiny fragments of glass that had fallen to the floor and rug.I installed two conventional bulbs and they are shining from the same fixtures. (The picture of the "surviving"bulb in a box with the stabilizing cards looking that it was never installed was a recreation after quitting the review.)

A Hot Buy!
This bulb is massive! I did not realize when I purchased it but it’s huge! With that being said, we keep our house at 69 degrees and my tank is right under a vent. We have it coved a third by a blanket on top to keep in heat, and boy does this thing radiate heat. It’s hanging above my tank and still manages to keep my snakes warm and cozy!

Gentle warmth & gentle lighting
Replaced a white heat lamp in bathroom with this red one to aslo use for night time trips. It gives off very light red hue, that to my eyes looks orange-y. This bulb gives off less warmth than the old white one. But it's a more even heat.

Warmth is perfect for my chickens
Started incubating chicken eggs for the first time and it was a success. Using this warmth light bulb has kept the temperature of the new born chicks to be about 90-95 degrees. Great lightbulb. Would recommend for other breeders.

Do not buy competitors, lasts less than 1/4 of the time
For my heat lamp, this brand has lasted the longest. I've bought multiple different brands online, most lasting a few weeks at best, this is going on a month now, of being on at least 9 hours per day.

Bonne ampoule
J'ai utilisé cette ampoule chauffante pour un terrarium et elle fonctionne bien. Elle ne fait presque pas de lumières (C'est ce que j'avais besoin).
