This thing works so reliably!
I used this thing to check if my fridge was staying cool enough. It's really easy to set up, there's step-by-step instructions included and even somebody who is clueless like myself could do it. I did have a problem accessing the setup page but that's because I had a bad browser on my phone (Opera) and switching to a normal browser like Firefox fixed the logging in problem. When you open the app on your phone you get a nice graph of the temperature and humidity. You can pick the time range in days/weeks to look at it historically, including the last 24 hours. You can click on data points to see the exact temperature and humidity at that point but it also reports the highs, lows, and average. What I like is the simplicity of the app: no ads, no nagging, easy to use. It just shows you info and that's it, exactly as it should be. The software developers that made this thing should be commended for sticking with a "keep it simple" philosophy because it's so easy to use.About privacy you do have to register an account with Ideal Sciences (Temp Stick creator) but they don't want any info other than a user name and password. And you do have to give the Temp Stick device your WiFi password so it can join the network, which is understandable. I can't find any information about their privacy policy or security policy though -- no reason to doubt them and maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but I would like to know more about that.My wish list for improvements would be:1. Some way to pinch to zoom in/out on the graph and scroll left and right through it.2. Able to look at the last N hours instead of 24 hours. These are minor issues though. For fridge users, my experience is that every time the door opens the humidity goes up, and if you accidentally leave the door ajar the humidity stays up. So the humidity graph is a great thing to check first to see when the door was open. Then check the temp graph at the same location. What I learned from using the Temp Stick is that my fridge is just fine, but putting warm food in really does make it work harder and I need to set the cooling level a little lower than I thought. I'd never know otherwise!Anyway the Temp Stick is a little pricey but in my experience it's 100% reliably, easy to set up, easy to use, and very, very convenient.

Temp Sticks saved our house from freezing water pipes and infloor heat tubes freezing in Jan 2025
We have a house at high altitude in Colorado and it gets cold, really cold. We are there part time. We have a cold alarm on our security system but a neighbor told me about these and I installed two. New Year's night while in Argentina I got an alert from my TempStick that the temperature had dropped to my preset level 60 degrees. I texted our caretaker; he got our boiler checked (it had failed); and he arranged installation of a new boiler. This was when a deep freeze was rolling in - minus 10 degrees and lower for ten days. If a house freezes water pipes break, but worse, in floor radiant heat tubes freeze and then your house is pretty much destroyed. Everything must be ripped out for repair. I had two Temp Sticks in our house; got alerts at different times from both (upstairs and down). I am back at our house now and just installed two more (garage and master bath). These saved our house. Adding a couple things -- this device came with a Duracell lithium battery, not a cheap worthless battery, a small lanyard to conveniently hang it somewhere (easy to tuck out of the way but where you want it), and super easy instructions. Installation with the app was fast and simple. It's a great product -- it works, it was thoughtfully designed, and the app is superb.

Working flawlessly in multiple walk-in coolers *UPDATE AC adapter to replace batteries*
The battery life is okay, but there is nothing better than plugging into an AC outlet. I'm including a link for an AC adapter that works great with the Temp Stick. You of course need an outlet near by. Use the "dummy" batteries for set-up. The one with the cord attached is the one you will pull out 6 times to enter set up. You can also just plug and unplug the barrel connector (part of the AC adapter kit) 6 times to put the Temp Stick in set up mode. I drilled a hole the width of the thin ribbon cable in the corner of the battery compartment cover that connects to the one dummy battery and leads to the plug part of the adapter. This will keep the cable from getting damaged. If you are looking at the front face of the Temp Stick / battery cover, I drilled the hole in the bottom left part of the battery compartment cover. The dummy battery with the wire is then placed on the left side of the battery compartment, and you can run the cable through the hole in the cover. You will have to snip the edge of the hole you drilled to create a gap to slip the cable through. It's possible to close the battery cover on the ribbon cable without drilling a hole, but I didn't want to risk damaging the cable. I have had these plugged in and running for weeks now. The work great. Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096NCTFSG?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsI have 7 walk-in coolers and countless commercial refrigerators running 24/7. I'm in the process of having a new walk-in installed currently, and got a quote for a remote temperature monitoring system from the manufacturer. The unit was quoted at $720.00. Many of these require monthly monitoring contracts. Temp Stick takes about 5 minutes to set-up and mount (some of the easiest tech to deploy in recent memory). The wireless radio seems robust, and I've had zero issues installing these inside walk-in coolers and connecting and staying connected to my wireless networks. You can do it all from your smartphone. The online portal is free (just like the phone app). I also have some Emerson Sensi smart thermostats (that are also a great value and are very intuitive to use). The only complaint on those is that the phone app is free, but the online portal (actual computer access) is $1.00 a month per thermostat. Temp Stick gives you both for free. The Temp Stick app and online portal give tons of valuable information, and battery status is included in that info (so you will know when to replace the batteries before they die). I haven't imagined a feature that I would like that is not included. Very thoughtful execution on the product and the customer facing interface. I've had many refrigerators and walk-ins break down overnight, only to show up in the morning to find thousands of dollars of food spoiled. It's a really bad start to the day. If Temp Stick saves me only one time by alerting me to a failed cooler (and it will), it will pay for all seven Temp Stick purchases in one fell swoop. Great product.
