Outstanding Head Unit
I don’t often write reviews, but this head unit truly deserves one.Recently, I purchased the PEMP (9625) Ultra-Thin 12.3" Linux Screen, specifically designed for BMW X5 E70/E71 CIC models, and installed it in my 2013 BMW X5 E70. I’m happy to report that everything is functioning flawlessly, and I’m thoroughly impressed with this upgrade. The system seamlessly integrates with the OEM Bluetooth and microphone, and the iDrive system works perfectly with the new head unit. Apple CarPlay also operates smoothly without any issues. The customer service was exceptional. The support team was very helpful, guiding me through customizing the startup logo to my preference.Installation was straightforward and took me about an hour. The system is incredibly responsive, with a fast interface, excellent connectivity, touchscreen , display quality, brightness, and outstanding sound quality. If you're considering this upgrade, I highly recommend it, you won’t regret the investment!

Best mod I’ve done in years. Highly recommend
For starters. This was installed on a 2012 bmw x5 with the hifi package. This was COMPLETELY plug and play via Bluetooth, not the aux. the instructions aren’t very clear, they seem old. As some of the plugs/parts aren’t included or even on the car. But they helped me disassemble the car.Space was tight, but everything fit perfectly. I turned the car on, and was amazed. Everything works! Sounds fantastic, looks incredible. I am beyond happy with my purchase. This should be a day one mod for any e70 owner!I’d also like to add, I am not tech savvy at all and this was quite simple. It even comes with a plastic pry tool.

PEMP LINUX CARPLAY E70
The unit is great and Linux version is quicker. Easy to install and no issues. Sound quality of the unit is bad when using the aux, I have to connect my phone to bluetooth in I drive to get a great sound. I like the 10 inch screen perfect for my X5. For the price should have a better sound.

Good but could be better (sound)
Nice unit overall, very nice to be able to add a high definition display and AppleCar play to an older BMW. Fit is perfect and install is really easy and they include instructions. My only gripe is the sound quality isn’t the best. My BMW X5 doesn’t have Bluetooth stock and I had to use the cars aux input for the CarPlay to have sound. It just doesn’t sound the best but I can live with it.I’d recommend just know what you’re getting into and what to expect.

Great upgrade from OEM unit
Really impressed with how well this unit works - the functionality, speed, and display are all excellent. FYI the instructions provided & in the video online skip several crucial steps (such as wiring the USB & auxiliary cable) so make sure to find other videos that show that! Their troubleshooting video will solve all the weird visual bugs once you get it booted up, it’s on their same YouTube channel. Some of you probably already have Bluetooth issues resulting from a faulty commbox that you’re about to discover or are already aware of - this will prevent the native Bluetooth feature from working properly unless you wire an aux into the unit! Once you wire an aux in; both the Bluetooth & wired connection will work fine. There’s also a handful of random connections and wires that just don’t plug into anything at all. I imagine these are for NAV and other trim specific tech options, but something to be aware of when doing the install.Overall, there are some weird caviats with the setup and install, but it’s a massive upgrade from the original unit & very good quality for not being a major name brand. Great value, very impressed.

Audio quality is awful
I had high hopes for this unit. Looks great, install is easy but I have tried everything I know to try and the audio is just plain awful. If this issue was addressed it would be a good unit. I'm not at all an audio snob but anything over a low to medium volume it becomes really fuzzy and the lows are bad.

CIC ANDROID SELF INSTALLED ON 2013 BMX X3 35I. EVERYTHING WORKS AS IT SHOULD!
The media could not be loaded. Picked up the CIC android for our 2013 BMW X5, after reading all the reviews and watching the PEMP YouTube videos. We don’t have any prior experience so this was all new. Quick delivery, installed it the next day. Took about two hours with breaks. My biggest reminders, don’t forget the aux cord that runs to your center console, you need that for the app audio (YouTube, YouTube TV, Tubi, Prime Video, etc). Also, if your x5 has the small speaker on the upper dash, you need to hook up the purple and white cord to the android as well. The apple car play, wired and wireless work seamlessly and the audio is up to par. We added a data only t mobile prepaid SIM card (you can use a hotspot as well) and it works perfectly. We can stream live tv on YouTube tv and Tubi, play movies on all the other apps while driving (though we won’t, for safety reasons of course). We had a quick question, so we emailed and wishing 24 hours received an extremely thorough response and pictures to help identify the issue. Looks like it came with the car stock once you change the boot logo and customize your settings. Dont hesitate!

Big PEMPin!
This was a 100% plug-n-play easy 1.5 hour install on my ‘12 X5 with CIC iDrive and factory Bluetooth.PEMP is clearly concerned about quality and customer satisfaction as it is *very* well packaged and includes clear instructions.I did a lot of research prior to selecting this unit and I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the value provided for the money.Touch screen resolution is much better than original so this is great for folks looking to improve upon their aging OEM screen.Boot from cold to the Linux screen is about 9-10 seconds and I typically see it go directly to CarPlay about 5 seconds later. So far all OEM functions and vehicle information screens are 100% retained.Get off the fence, do yourself a favor and buy this one. I’m not affiliated with the mfg. nor a competitor - just a very well pleased nerdy consumer.
