This short grain rice is the essential ingredient for any paella. Each bag should make 10 generous portions of paella. The rice comes in a traditional cloth bag, which a bit like a bean bag, you can't stop holding! Each bag is individually numbered with D.O. label (Denominación de Origen or Denominacio D'origen as it written in Valenciano!!) confirming both its quality and provenance. This typical paella rice of the Bahía-Senia varieties is grown in the heart of the famous Albufera Natural Park, South-West of the city of Valencia. This amazing natural wetland is separated from the sea only by a small strip of land as has been an area of rice production since the time of the Moors. In fact it was here that paella as a dish was first eaten, taking advantage of the abundance of natural wildlife living in the park. All our rice comes from ARROCERÍAS ANTONIO TOMÁS a company founded 40 years ago. Their La Marjal brand is recognised today as one of the premium brands in the market. Being located within the park itself they have a privileged relationship with the farmers. This along with continual monitoring and selection ensures the best quality rice is always able to be sourced.
