Houttuynia is the common name for this herb. The botanical name is Houttuynia Cordata; Herba. The Pin Yin Name for this herb is Yu Xing Cao, which translates into English literally as "Fishy Smelling Herb." Fresh cut stems have a strong odor, but the smell disappears when dried. Houttuynia has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to clear heat and toxins. Allergy info: Prepared in a pharmacy that handles gluten, soy, wheat, cuttlefish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts, and sesame seeds.
