Design Toscano Anubis Egyptian Revival Sculptural Clock

This is a lovely looking, elegant clock, beautifully designed and hand painted by Toscano with Ancient Egyptian artwork showing mirrored images of Isis and Anubis. The same elegant style on the front continues on the back and side panels, making it practical for 360 degree display. The clock face is in Roman numerals which suit the overall design of the clock, but the clock mechanism is extremely basic with no instructions of how to fit the battery. Finding and opening the battery compartment cover took a minute or two of thought because it is not immediately obvious to us humans how to do it. I found it’s actually the small half moon panel that just lifts off ( ie : DO NOT as I did, undo the two screws on either side of the battery compartment) I notice some reviewers on Amazon have had battery problems with this clock . In UK, a Duracell Battery ‘Type N with suffix LR1’ works fine in this clock and lasts for months. Overall this is a great buy and I recommend it highly for those who want some elegance in their home. My only slight criticism is that I wish this clock was larger than it is, to make it in better proportion to the Egyptian figurines Toscano make? See Photo

This is very good, better even than the photo sugests. It is well decorated on the sides and the rear, in fact the rear decoration is a work of art in itself. Yes, a basic clock, but I never bought it as a clock, only as an object to be admired. It has a nice weight to it and has the look and feel of a piece much more expensive, as do many of these Egyptian pieces by Toscano. For those who buy and cannot work out where the battery goes, you carefully pull on the outer edges of the clock bezel and it all comes out and you can see the battery container held by a small screw. May also need to gently shake it to get it going if after putting battery in if there is no tocking noise, and it is difficult to hear.

Looks wise this is a lovely piece but for me it is let down by 2 aspects. First it arrived with the two Isis figures in pieces. Amazon were great about arranging the return etc. Second the actual clock is VERY CHEAP. . The hands were lose and couldn't move rom the 6.30 position. Meaning it is useless as a clock and expensive as an ornament. So disappointing. If asked I wouldn't recommend this item. Hence only one star.

Very beautiful clock my sister and her husband loved it, very heavy and well made, when putting in batteries pull out the clock from the front and slide of the small battery chamber which looks like a half moon and insert a battery which if a Duracell type N suffix LR1. If not sure look at the review before mine, but it works very well also thanks to seller.

Bought this as part of my sons Christmas, he is really likes getting egyptian ornaments, & when he received this clock he was over the moon, it's so gorgeous thinking about buying one myself. Thank you
