This is a wild species of orchid, scientifically known as the "written orchid" and "sernikovotano" in Greek. According to legend, Orchis, the son of a nymph and a satirist, was doomed to become a flower when he tried to rape a priestess during the Bacchic Mysteries. Theophrastus was the first to record this plant and name it "orchid" because of the shape of its bulbs and the myth that accompanies it.Salep is a root that has been used since ancient times to this day for its medicinal properties.Procedure: Boil water (or milk) with cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg in a saucepan or coffee pot. Remove from heat, add the salepi and mix well so that it does not curdle. Preferably put sugar. The cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg are optional. Serve immediately as the salepi is hot.
