Excellent maintenance products for Aprilaire 600 humidifier
This was my first 3 star review headlined "Should not sell this without proper orifice - danger of flooding in basement"As some other users have noted this item ships without the proper orifice. On my Aprilaire 600 this is called the "yellow orifice". See above picture from the manual. Without this orifice the water flow to the humidifier is excessive and can spill out on the basement floor. I had to order this part separately for about $7. Less critically, the shipped item also lacked a strainer (see above picture) that slows down inevitable future clogging of the solenoid valve.Reason for upgrading to 5 star headlined "Excellent maintenance products for Aprilaire 600 humidifier"I had ordered, and just received, the Humidifier Maintenance Kit (Aprilaire 4839) for my humidifier. It came with the yellow orifice preinstalled in the plastic pipe that runs from the solenoid valve to the humidifier. I also found that the strainer valve came preinstalled in the input end of the solenoid valve (Aprilaire 4040) - I had not noticed this earlier.Everything works fine now. Going forward I plan on replacing these two parts routinely as they do tend to clog up. It is easy to check as I can hear the water flow near the valve when it is working fine.

Outstanding Solenoid Valve - Keeps My Humidifier Running Smoothly
I recently purchased the Aprilaire 4040 Solenoid Valve for my whole house humidifier and I am extremely happy with my purchase. The installation process was straightforward and easy to follow. The valve is very well made and feels very durable.Since using this valve, I have noticed a significant improvement in the air quality in my home. The humidity levels are much more consistent and I can tell that my sinuses are much clearer. I also noticed that my furniture and wood floors seem to be less dry and are less prone to cracking.I highly recommend the Aprilaire 4040 Solenoid Valve to anyone who is looking to improve the air quality in their home. It is a great investment that will pay off in the long run. The customer service from Aprilaire was also top notch and I had no issues with my order or the product itself. Overall, a great product and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Good value for the money
Item arrived faster than expected and was easy to install. In less than 5 minutes I had shut off water, unscrewed the two compression nuts and the two screws holding it to my humidifier. Then I screwed the new one on, and changed one wire at a time, with the power off to that circuit. Then I re-attached the supply line and turned the water back on. I turned on my humidifier to test and water comes out nicely now.Our old one was near 20 years old and seems to have clogged with minerals (city water) or just plain died. It would only let out a drip/dribble. The one one has a nice stream to it. I'll screw the humidifier hose back on next time the furnace comes on to make sure that orfice isn't plugged too.

Fix the water leak from the humidifier
Some time back one day my wife alerted me to the fact there was a lot of water on the basement floor by the gas furnace. I deduced it was tied into the water supply to the humidifier and I figured this control or shut off valve was likely the culprit. I shut off the supply to this valve and cleaned up the mess. So I ordered replacement elements for the humidifier and also this shutoff valve. When the parts arrive I installed the components and reopened the water supply line. Now things worked as they should and no more water leak. A much cheaper fix than calling a serviceman.

I replaced the solenoid and it isn't dispersing any water. Could the thermostat be the cause?
I replaced the solenoid on my Aprilaire 600 and it didn't work. I asked a question on here and got eight answers.I asked "I replaced the solenoid and it isn't dispersing any water. Could the thermostat be the cause? It's 11 years old."I checked everything that was suggested and I did replace the humidistat. It is not working. I wanted to thank everyone but all I could do was click yes, it was helpful. I will probably have to go through this again in about 3 or 4 years as the solenoid's don't last longer than that according to what I have read. At least i know how to do it now. If anyone that left an answer reads this... thanks. All I need was some assurance and guidance.
