Eclipse Professional Hacksaw 70-20TR

A decent basic hacksaw - one thing I really like is that there's none of that awful soft touch plastic on it. I hate the way that stuff deteriorates and goes sticky and I wish the manufacturers would stop putting it on tools, it does nothing to improve them.The handle is an alloy casting - which I like, but unfortunately it's quite a brittle one. I whacked mine against a vice when I cut through something and a chunk snapped off it. The thing still functions but honestly I think it should be able to withstand that type of wear without damage. Other hacksaws that I have are made of a slightly softer alloy which is more prone to superficial scratching but less prone to actually breaking.

It's a hacksaw. It saws things.But in all seriousness I've used this particular one (well identical to it) for years in a workshop and if it can stand up to the abuse that being shared between ten techs gives it'll hold up for diy/home use. The one I got was just as good, a little shinier than the ten year old ones though.

I have a number of hacksaws I've used over the years but this is always my favourite I've have had this type for years in my toolbox was a bit unsure that a new one would be as sturdy as mine is over 15yrs old but when it arrived I was pleasantly surprised with the strength and weight just as good as my older one.

My old Eclipse Hacksaw finally gave up the ghost after 50 years,given to me by my late father.I replaced it with a cheaper make,what a mistake,complete waste of money.Purchased an Eclipse Hacksaw, what a difference. It just feels quality, strong and doesn't twist when you tension the blade.If you want quality you have to pay a couple of extra pounds for it, but well worth it. Service was excellent arrived in a couple of days.Recommended.

Good saw choice of blade excellent will last many years. Did attack my saw box ( mitre) which is plastic.
