I am pretty comfortable working on computers. Apple's heavy use of adhesive on these batteries made this a tough installation. Removing the old battery was the most difficult task, esp in the center section where there is risk of damaging the touchpad logic boards as you need to jam something across all the lines of adhesive tape to cut it loose. Installing the new battery wasn't without problems, on first attempt it wasn't completely lined up with the connector, repositioning the battery was extra tough with the fresh adhesive. On First try the battery also was not recognized by the computer, so had to reseat the cable and loosen/tighten the screws holding the battery connector. It has only been a week or so, however still very happy with this low cost solution, esp since I don't have any Apple stores or service centers nearby. IF you do decide to tackle this install, carefully watch the videos of others making the swap, and take your time!

I have been using this replacement battery in my MacBook pro for about a few months and so far so good. Installation was fairly straightforward forward but I would only recommend this repair if you are very comfortable with computers and hardware. the adhesive is very strong on the OEM battery, and bending or puncturing it during the repair can very easily cause a serious fire. If you are not 100% sure you can perform this repair do not buy this product; go to apple and have your MacBook serviced. it is very easy to make a mistake and completely brick your hardware.

This product was a little more expensive than its competitors, but I bought it thinking the quality would be better. It was not easy to install, took a few hours, but eventually I did and everything worked great at first. After a month or two the battery life started to drop significantly and now its at 898 mAh even though the cycle count is only around 300. The battery is now almost half the capacity of the battery I replaced. Complete waste of time and money and now I don't know what I'm going to do because I already threw out my old battery. I literally paid money to have a worse battery.Update: I replaced it with another but Its not working again. These batteries only fast a few months. Huge mistake removing the original apple battery. Never buy this.

Let me preface this review with I would normally never try to complete this battery exchange as I am not "handy". That said, I wasn't interested in shipping my Mac Book out for 3 weeks to have the battery replaced. It was either change the battery myself or throw it out. Anyway, upon getting the battery installed it started right up and began charging. You need to watch a You Tube video for instruction as the battery kit doesn't come with any. The hardest part is getting the old battery out. I didn't use adhesive remover. Just a butter knife which seems like the only thing that would do it. There is no need to remove the old adhesive strip. Just install the new one on top. I didn't and look at me and all of my success. Frankly, I am not sure why the original battery is glued in at all. Be careful with this step. At one point, the old battery was smoking and sparking because of the prodding and poking with the a butter knife. This was disconcerting but I forged on. No stopping me at this point. Remember to use sticky notes keep all the tiny screws straight. Do this as they are all different sizes. The bottom of the computer is a bit difficult to open. The videos show using a suction cup to help pull it off. This kit doesn't come with one. I managed to push down and slide it off. Overall, this is not a quick fix. It took me about 2 hours as I would watch the video twice before moving forward. Anyway, I am in the middle of "conditioning" the new battery and the house hasn't burned down yet. So far, I would say that for $60.00, 1.5 hours, a few tiny fires and some white knuckles this is a reasonable solution to shipping your Mac Book out for 3 weeks.That said, do not be shocked if you destroy your Mac Book attempting this battery swap. #godspeed #hackamac #handyman #expectsmallfires #personalgrowth

I replaced the battery about a year ago in my MacBook Pro...my computer wouldn't detect the battery and only turned on when plugged into a charger, even after a few time of checking connection...I gave up and figured there must be another bigger issue with the hardware...I have a desktop for work.A year later, we were quoted $545 from Apple Store to replace the battery in the MacBook. I said no thanks since the trade in value wouldn't be worth it and decided to open it up one more time and say a prayer. I checked and secured the connections again (possibly more firmly than I was confident to do the first go around), plugged it in and it the battery was detected!! It has been great so far!

Comes with needed tools to take off the smallest screws I have ever seen in my life to take the case apart. Battery works fine, holds charge - no issues. Hardest part was getting the old battery out as it is double sided taped to the laptop. Also, make sure the display cable does not come loose . It is under where the battery lays and can easily separate when you are trying to get the old one out. Double check it is still plugged in before putting it back together

I purchased the product on Jun 29, 2021, and installed it around two weeks later after I received it. On June 1, 2023, the battery indicated 100% charged, but when I unplugged the power after 1 or 2 minutes, the battery power dropped to 3%, and the computer shut down. Experiencing such issues in less than 2 years with minimal usage is ridiculous. I don't recommend this battery replacement.
