can this be used on the sole of the shoe to keep dye from staining feet?

I doubt very much if Aqua Seal would help with this issue. It is applied on the outside of the shoe and soaks into the leather to help nourish and protect it. The leather still remains porus in order to breathe. The dye is absorbed by the leather and is still able to leach out in warm, humid situations. In time, the staining will stop on it's own.

Is this the aquaseal pictured blue and white packaging? i ordered and received https://www.amazon.com/aqua-seal-aquaseal-leather-8oz-creme/dp/b06xkl9c

Not the same package. Yes the same product. Works great.

Can this be used on a handbag?

Roy, feel confident that you will be satisfied using Aquaseal on a handbag. Check out this YouTube video. It's what sold me on buying it :New shoes get the Aquaseal treatment...: http://youtu.be/2VXpL4cTDyQHope this helps

Would this work well for a couch?

I really don't know but I would be tempted to try. My suggestion is to consult www.aquaseal.com.
