CasterHQ 5 Inch Total Lock Caster - Red Polyurethane Wheel - 1/2"-13 x 1" Threaded Stem Set of 4

I inherited an old generator that had metal skid plates on the runners under the engine. After dragging the generator out due to a tornado knocking the power out, I decided it was just too damn heavy to keep dragging it, so I bought these wheels. I like to over engineer things so that I don't have to worry about re-fixing my work later. I knew that I could have gotten away with smaller, cheaper wheels, but I wanted the 1/2 inch threaded shank just to be on the safe side. The 5 inch added height also helps when I have to bend down to pull the crack on the generator. These are well made wheels with ball bearing under the swivel mounts and openings where you can add grease to the bearings if necessary. The wheel locks on each wheel are great, but I only need to lock two of them to keep the generator in place. The generator only weighs about 65 pounds so, as I said, these may be overkill but I doubt they are going to fail during my life time.

Decided to try these for my new workbench. I needed to raise it up to a more comfortable height (sitting vs standing). The bench is HEAVY! These casters rolled very smoothly over my garage floor. My hope is the last a long time so I can move the bench to clean under it. Time will tell.

These wheels were easy to install. They replaced smaller wheels on my router table. The larger wheels roll easily. The locking mechanism locks both the turning and rotation keeping my table secured in one spot. I also like that it raised tge height of my table a couple inches since I am tall and don't like to bend down to push wood through the router bit.

I bought these to replace the casters on a creeper I bought here. At the time and given my search these were the only 5 inch casters I found that served my purpose and while I did not need the brake component they did not interfer with the intended use. So in summary with these new casters my creeper performs as it should. I would buy these again as they appear to be well made and suitable for their intended purpose. I would pay attention to the weight rating on any type of caster purchase to ensure you are good with that, and also pay attention to the type of wheel and mount.
