Great for light cameras
Perfect for a light camera, LED light or Mic to put on a table etc. I love how the legs fold into the handle as a grip. I would not put a heavy DSLR camera like my 7D on it but I have been playing with it with my GH4 and I was surprised how well it works for to flip either way for vlogging. Bought it for the new Canon G7x MkII but it isn't here yet so if it works for the larger came it should be fine for that as well. The top part that holds the camera ratchets up click by click until it reaches the top so I don't think it would really be as stable if you tried to use it in the in between areas because although it wouldn't go down without pushing the release button it could continue to rise up if you tilted it etc. However, that is where it seem natural to have it. I see myself using this a lot.

I love this stand!
I bought this specifically for use with a Zoom audio recorder, and I couldn't be happier with it.The design is pure genius. Its support and flexibility on a flat surface is perfect -- just what you need and no more. You can even turn it to balance on a slightly slanted surface. It also functions as a comfortable hand grip, and is supremely portable. I'll probably buy another to keep as a spare along with other gear such as a Canon G-series camera. As with ALL tripod purchases, make sure you're choosing one that's appropriate for the size and weight of the object you want to support. For small to medium size cameras and other items such as the small digital audio recorders, this is PERFECT. (I can only imagine what a powerhouse it would be if constructed of a heavy gauge metal, but it's already so beautifully balanced that that would be overkill in both weight in cost.) Highly recommended!

Pretty good
This thing is a bit more plasticky and lightweight than I had hoped. But in terms of practicality it's relatively wide stance and rubber inserts maintain good stability and the design is well thought out. Would be far more useful if it had a small arm and gliding head for panning shots, but what the heck. Drop a sheet of wax paper under it and simply push the whole stand slowly left or right to pan. I'll probably spring for a more durable version down the line, but for now it will take care of business. Folding the legs in does indeed create a nice pistol-style grip for taking steadier video.

Awesome tripod. Bought a second time.
This is my second purchase of the same tripod. I take mine Scuba Diving to hold my GoPro using the pistol grip. Also serves me well as an above ground tripod. Legs are sturdy. Tripod is lightweight and works exceedingly well for a variety of cameras from GoPro to SLR.

Great stand for a portable digital recorder!
While I think this little tripod would be fine for a camera, I use it instead as a stand for my Zoom and Tascam portable digital recorders. It is absolutely PERFECT for that use, because it can tilt so that the recorder screen is easily viewed. When the recorder is attached to the stand, it's very stable, and is firm when pressing the various menu buttons on the recorder. So, whether for a camera or as a stand for a portable recorder or other devise with a tripod hole, I would highly recommend this! They're so inexpensive, you can afford to buy 2 or 3 of them and keep on in the studio, one in your camera or field recording bag, and so on. Very well built and very practical.

First thing to note this is CHEAP not only in ...
First thing to note this is CHEAP not only in feel but in PRICE. With that in mind it is okay and functional it will wobble after you hit the shutter so I would definitely use the timer on your camera set at a minimum of 5-10 seconds to let the wobble stop after pressing the shutter. If you are using your smartphone as a remote shutter that would work too. The design is handy but if I paid anymore then 8 bucks for this thing it would have been 2 stars for the lack of quality at least in the feel of this thing...I don't expect it to last long

it makes a great compliment to any kit
I shoot with a Pentax Q, and this really helps when adapting those old zoom lenses. With the 250mm lens and the crop factor of the Q, it was difficult to maintain a steady handhold. But this little tripod helped immensely as a hand rest. With the tips of the legs resting on my palm, I could use my figertips to adjust the lens much steadier than I had been able to in the past. And for extra stability I had spread the legs, resting them against my chest as I angled my camera up for a shot. Looked ridiculous, but it worked! Works just as well with my new Pentax K50. And for the price, it makes a great compliment to any kit.

Only works for iPhone with an additional attachment (not included).
Decent but not super heavy duty like a full size tripod. Bought for my iPhone without realizing I'd need an additional attachment so I just had to order that too. I find the title for this, claiming to work for iPhone, to be misleading because ANY tripod works for iPhone if you are forced to purchase a separate adapter... This does NOT work for iPhone by itself (unless my package was missing a piece).
