The Mysterious Island (Wordsworth Classics)

We just finished the book journey to the center of the earth so we decided to buy this one by the same writer, we read 16 chapters so far and the book is so far a get read, I would say is a middle schooler and older sort of book.

We got this one too for our boy . I told him that I had read it many time when i was his age, and that it made a big impact in choosing career. His siblings are also excited to read it when i told them that the Nautilus & Capt Nemo are in the book. I also told them that there is a good movie they can can watch.

Great story, book quality for price is great

I bought these for my daughters because they were recommended by someone but they didn’t even wanna read them! I feel like classic novels are good education for young minds. Came in great paperback condition!

I am quite a fan of Jules Verne, and have read of course 20,000 leaques under the city and several others. For some reason never came around to The Mysterious Island. Picked it up at a friends house and started reading and realized it is quite captivating. So, I ordered the paperback from Amazon and now reading it. So far quite good, I am also curious to see the style of writing. It definitely has an outdated feel to it, but that helps to take one back to the past, and get some insight into the social ideas in the 1800s. I am looking forward to reading through this book, I am sure it will be full of surprises and just a very satisfying read experience. Certainly different from contemporary fiction. Jules Verne knew how to create interesting situations with challenging solutions from his characters, that keeps one turning the pages for more.

This was a good copy of this novel. The type setting and editing were excellent. The paperback book had a great cover and some nice drawings.

Perhaps the best of the principal works of Verne. The community that the marooned men create is both unique and inspiring.They are rich in talent, strong in their sense of community, and resilient. It is a classic in the way that they build a life on this remote and interesting island. And of course there is mystery..of the most remarkable kind! A terrific read for teens and beyond.

A classic. What can you say? Verne was many years ahead of his time. I read this book when I was a kid and loved it; now I'm passing it on to my grandkids. This was probably my favorite book as a kid, at least until I discovered Tolkein and Feist. Still a great read and I enjoy re-reading it periodically.

I’ve only just started reading this book but it is so captivating and interesting with such a good story line which keeps you wanting more and more, I know it is a classic but Jules Vern really knew how to draw you into the story and keep you reading. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone even a first time reader. It is a book you should add to your reading list before you die.

The book is fantastic, must read for those who enjoy adventure and the works of Jules Verne. The copy is a very nice copy, although it is soft meaning the cover isnt very sturdy and the the book can bend easily. But that doesnt take away from the fact that its a great novel.

I enjoy reading this novel at nights. It helps me to relax and have a better sleep, specially after a stressful day. Sometimes it's hard to believe this book was actually written more than a hundred years ago considering how much modern technology are depicted in it. I also enjoy the quality of the papers used in the print and the illustrations. My only wish is. that, the font was slightly bigger.
