Works perfectly
I had read reviews that it was hard to install and blades broke easily. I felt there were some issues with the directions on installation, but looking at what needed to be done, I figured it out. I tried several sizes of spiral blades, which was why I purchased it, without any issue of breakage. All you need to do is make sure your tension is correct. If you have any experience with spiral saw blades you should not have any problems. If you can't mount pinless blades you need an attachment like this, and I recommend the Olson Saw AC49610 Scroll Saw Blade Conversion Kit completely.

For shame.
Olsen should be ashamed of themselves for this product. I installed the upper arm piece, it was fairly easy to install. When I went to place the plastic "spacer" in there, the piece of crap broke. The "metal" part broke, not the spacer. I did not use any force, as the spacer fits on there pretty smoothly. I pressed down just a tad and it split. I am kind of glad it broke before I had a blade in there... I ended up making a duplicate of the broken piece using a scrap piece of WOOD (thats right, crappy wood from a tree), it held up better than the metal.Unfortunately, I have not found a better option for a pinless adapter. Might be worth just drilling a bigger hole for the pin blades... I strongly recommend not buying this.. Save your thirty bucks...EDIT: After some thinking, and about $70, I managed to melt down some aluminum to form a new piece. I have made one cut so far, with is one more than the Olsen allowed.. After all of that, I have more money dumped into the adapter than I do the saw. But, I got some new skills out of it, and I now have a small aluminum foundry. Don't buy this product, unless you absolutely have to. It is a waste of money, and a headache.

Instructions are poor and I could not get them to hold
I bought these to use spiral blades and avoid having to upgrade my 20 year old perfectly serviceable Craftsman scroll saw. The instructions are challenging to follow and make no sense in some cases. e.g. it tells you to place the lower clamp in the plastic holder to assist. The clamp goes in essentially sideways, which is fine, but then it says "insert the blade with the teeth down". That's not possible the teeth either go to the left or the right with the clamp sideways in the holder - they cannot "go down". Then, unlike other clamping systems where there are two opposing clamp set screws and you position the blade between them at whatever depth you need, this one has a through bolt above a short slot. That's OK in principle but Olson blades (and others?) are tapered at each end so they will not sit flush against the clamp bolt but instead skew off one direction or the other leaving the blade at an indeterminate depth in the clamp and anything but centered. They provide a plastic holder to assist in clamping the bald in the lower clamp, but it is virtually worthless as a holder as the slot for the clamp is much larger than the clamp it's supposed to hold and the clamp just moves all around making it near impossible to use it to clamp the blade, plus you can't apply the force you need to properly clamp the blade while it's in a flimsy plastic holder so it's easier to just hold the clamp. After clamping and re clamping the blade in the lower clamp a half dozen times to get it what I thought would be tight enough (as tight as I could get it), and clamping the blade in the upper clamp, which is easier to deal with, the blade just pulls out when the saw is tensioned. Maybe I over tension my blades, but I tensioned these blades to about the same lateral flexibility that proved best for 20 years on my old scroll saw for controllable non-wandering cuts. While this adapter might work out for some people, it was such a pain to set up and use in my case that I returned them and ordered a new scroll saw that accommodates pinless blades. A more expensive solution, but one that looks to be a much better solution.

Exactly what I needed
This is exactly what I needed for my Central Machinery (Harbor Freight) scroll saw. The only downside I can see is the hex screw for the top blade change holder... I solved that issue by going to Home Depot and spending less than a buck for a 7mm wing nut and super glued the screw to the wing nut. Now when I need to tighten and loosen the top holder it's just a simple turn of the "knob".However... if you don't mind using a hex tool every time you need to tighten/loosen the top holder... then you are good to go.I may also add that the bottom blade holder has about a 1/8th inch space that seems to me would be a hassle if a blade breaks as it seems like the whole part would fall out... I tighten up that space with the help of a vice before attaching it to the saw... works great.. a little snug but still able to rotate over the rubber to change blades if needed.

Measure twice... order once
This product would not work on my saw. period. I think my saw is too old, and the description does say that the conversion will not work on all saws. So, I sent it back. There was no hassle about returning it.

Genesis 16" scroll saw
Seems to be well made, all parts were in the package and installation seems strait forward but does not fit the Genesis 16" scroll saw. I bought this hoping it would fit but it does not fit, the upper mount could be made to fit but the lower mount will not fit this saw due to the thickness of the saws lower arm.

Original clamps on the saw were problematic and annoying to switch the blade . First alternative I found was OK initially but the clamps would crack and the slotting for the blade was inconsistent , causing cambered cuts and blade breakages. This clamp type , however, has none of the above issues . Blade changing is easy , the vertical is vertical , the clamps don't break, and the blades don't break prematurely .So I reckon I've found the holders best suited to my needs on this saw .
