Cyperus Rotundus is a perennial plant. Reaches a height of up to 140 cm. The root system of a young plant forms white, fleshy rhizomes. The leaves are linear, 2-4 mm wide. The inflorescence is umbrella-shaped. Spikelets are oblong-linear, narrow, sharp, rusty-red, 6-15 mm long, 1-2 mm wide. The fruit is a trihedral nut, dark gray, 1.5 mm long. The plant range includes the Atlantic coast of Europe, the Mediterranean, Africa, North and South America, Australia, and almost all of Asia.
