... a book that would show how to make the cool pancakes that all the rage on YouTube
I was looking for a book that would show how to make the cool pancakes that all the rage on YouTube. This is not that. This is an amateurish self-published guide to making boring pancakes that have roughly shape of various subjects. The author instructs the reader to make each part of the subject as a separate pancake. For instance, for a dog you would pour the head shape, then make separate eyes, ears, whiskers, etc. Then assemble the pieces on your plate. The illustrations are poorly draw digital line drawings (about as good as my 7 year old's art). There are no photos. It seemed like terribly obvious advice on how to make something you should be able to figure out on your own. Even if I hadn't been looking for the hot, new pancake craze guide, I would have been unhappy I had paid $15 for this. It was a disappointment. I will not be giving this as the gift I had planned.

Don't bother.
I was expecting that this book would teach the basics of how to make those amazing pancake images you have surely seen. Boy, what a disappointment! This book shows you how to draw simple images, it just happens to be using pancake batter to do it. Believe me, I know how to draw a butterfly. It would be cool if this book showed me how to make the butterfly have different patterns and colors. Sadly, it does not. The book appears to be a self-published job, with terrible graphics and minimal instruction. Not worth even 4.99. Very disappointing. Go to YouTube and find some videos there.
