Lacking in direction
It rambles a bit without any clear direction - it was rather just an assortment of stories, some of them interesting.

One of the most beautiful books I will ever read.
This is probably one of his best books. It has lucidity, sensitivity, an extraordinary imagination, and a recondite scholarship. I savoured every carefully constructed sentence and every paragraph that sliced through horizons, for this is what this book is about: the kaleidoscopic multiplication and deconstruction of horizons. What more can one want from a book on the sea? You will perceive the world differently after you read this book. You won't be able to produce an inventory of these insights for they will be part of you, but you will feel graced in having been exposed to such a wonderful and lucid mind.

Superb
A unique and masterful evocation of the ocean. It’s strength lies in the multi-layered perspective, it particular that of the poet philosopher attempting to get at what the sea represents and means in the human experience.

Wonderful book
This book was a suggested read from an English friend and it has been a really pleasant discovery. The book is really well written, it gives the reader the opportunity to reflect on many topics. At times it seems like a piece of poetry in prose. Really nice reading it.
