“Perseverance: Praying Through Life’s Challenges” works through the Old Testament book of Nehemiah, but it isn't your typical Bible study. It's not a fill-in-the-blanks with the correct answer. It's half Bible study and half journal, so you get out of it what you put into it. The formatting and layout is absolutely beautiful, with lots of space for personal reflection. To get the most out of this study, be prepared to be honest with yourself in identifying your "one thing" struggle. Donna does a great job of challenging and encouraging readers, while at the same time being open about her own struggles with perseverance. If you're looking for a Bible study that will push you to break a bad habit, finish a project, accomplish a goal, or establish a faithful prayer life, this is the book for you.

A great devotional and practical study for anyone who struggles under and against a perpetual sin! This is not a "How to" book, but is a daily walk with our Gracious God in a all-too-often-overlooked portion of His Word ... Nehemiah! A very compelling and inspirational daily read that is in font-size portions for throughout the day pondering! I highly recommend this study for one and all!!

Donna's style of writing and her way of making me think through the book of Nehemiah with a new set of eyes is the best part of this Bible Study. I have enjoyed the pondering sections the most of each session. I highly recommend this bible study to anyone who is looking for some encouragement as they walk through the many seasons of life.

This is a great Bible Study if you are trying to tackle a really big challenge in your life. Donna truly shares her heart and is very relatable when identifying the spiritual, emotional, and practical issues of trying to overcome something that won't be fixed in a short amount of time. I appreciated her fresh perspective on Nehemiah. Added bonus- the book is beautifully formatted and very user friendly. I was blessed to participate in a group while I did this study. I highly recommend buying the videos that accompany this book if doing it in a group setting through Concordia Publishing House.

Donna Pyle has done it again! My small group just finished her Perseverance study and were so inspired by it. Donna encourages readers to identify their "one thing"--a struggle or goal that they want to conquer--and then uses wisdom from the book of Nehemiah to help them overcome that one thing.I was very encouraged by Donna's honest sharing of her own struggles with her one thing. I loved the lessons about prayer that she drew from Nehemiah's example. Read Perseverance--this study will stay with long after you close the book.

The author's Bible teaching and her own stories woven through this study make you feel like you are sharing it with her over a cup of coffee or tea. Drawing lessons from the story of Nehemiah in the Old Testament, this study applies them to whatever obstacle or stubborn sin each reader faces. I love the size of the book and how well-designed the pages are, with plenty of room for making notes and writing responses, plus Personal Pondering prompts and pages. A very engaging study!
